ah, my reward to myself for completing my final homework assignment of the term at 230 am on a thursday. nice brown color with the below described sediment. medium to full bodied. smooth and sweet with a long tart/bitter and spicy finish. very well rounded beer. lizzy (44) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 5, 2004
Wow, this is a really good beer. Pours dark brown, thin head, and floaties. Smells like baking brownies. Tastes sweet, malty, chocolatey, bitter, and overall very yummy. sethdude (706) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 4, 2004
That’s a great beer! Pours a chocolate brown with a tan head, lots of floaties (as one would expect from this brewery). Aroma is like chocolate cake batter, which kicks ass. Flavor is tangy malts, sweet roasted nuts, a moment of hop spice, and a grasyy, bitter, dry finish that is EXCELLENT. Highly underrated, in my opinion! dolemike1 (1288) - Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 2, 2004
on tap: brown, very light tan head, nutty aroma and some hops, flavor much the same, pretty good beer, yet just doesnt blow me away. A good session beer. barenada (211) - Georgetown, Indiana, USA - OCT 30, 2004
UPDATED: NOV 16, 2006 (draft) Just a decent fairly generic brown ale. More sweet than most I suppose, and not malty-sweet but sugar-sweet. If that makes any sense.

Tried at the Boneyard in Cleveland. This was the first beer of the evening. Great brown color with a thick creamy head. Very smooth and drinkable palate. Great malty and rich flavor. Went very well with the hot wings at the Boneyard. Goblincat (399) - Petersburg, Michigan, USA - OCT 24, 2004
Pours brown. Nose is hops and toasted nuts. The taste is very smooth, rich, nutty, malty... odd and interesting at the same time. Dextolen (151) - Michigan, USA - OCT 20, 2004
Bottle. Pours a medium brown, with a slight reddish hue. Visible sediment in suspension. Tan head, nice a frothy, good lacing. Nutty, malty aroma. Hoppy flavor, again like every Bells’ (non stout) there’s a fruity aftertaste. robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - OCT 20, 2004
Brown Coloring With Good Head. Malt Aroma With Some Nutty-ness in There...Sinus’ are a BEE-atch... Very Well Balanced Flavor of Malt and Hops.. Overall Very Decent Brew! unclebleen (620) - California, USA - OCT 9, 2004
Yeah, this is pretty good. Cool owl on the label. Aroma is nutty and malty with some alcohol fumes. Flavor is sweet malt with some hops to balance. I like this.
