COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

An impressive product from Kalamazoo...go figure. This is one of my favorites.

On tap at Chevy's in Champaign, IL on 3/31/2004. Appearance, dark amber with a decent head and very good lace. The aroma was of hops. The flavor was sweet, nutty, and a nice hop finish with a good amount of Ale fruit notes. The body was nice and rich. Overall, pretty good stuff.

Poured a dark ruby color with a small off white head and some lacing. Caramel malt and bready aroma. Sweet malt, almost cloying, slightly bitter aftertaste. This is a decent brown.

Brown with a small white head. Super cloudy, with miscellaneous-sized floaties everywhere. I don't know why, but these beers that appear like a sample of Lake Michigan water look delicious to me. Rather light aroma of caramel malts and grapefruit. Interesting blend of sweet, chewy malts with a pronounced hop bitterness that is spicy. Finish of sweet malts and some ripened fruit (plums, dates). Rather highly carbonated.

Light brown with orange tint. Light head. Intersting tasting brown with a slight sour edge to the flavour.

Very nice carmal malt scents. A little bit of hop on the nose. Pours a medium orange/brown color with a thick off-white head. A bit cloudy, too. A sweet sugary nut flavor with a clean hop finish. Very nice.

Nice dark appearance and a chocolate/caramel nose. A roasted malt nut flavor that was really good but not as good as expected from the aroma. Still a very nice brown.

Pours dark, cloudy brown with a big fluffy white head. Flavor is malts, toffee and nuts. Flavor is not as bold as it could have been. I would clasify this as a better newcastle.

Medium dark brown color with a foamy tan head. Sweet sugar and caramel nose includes honey which is pleasent. Frothy and sweet, like sugar candies. Butterscotch, bourbon, honey in the flavor. Too sweet, but still good.

Poured a deep mahogany with plenty of visible yeast. Smells malty but subdued and not overpowering. The taste agrees with the scent, nice nutty and sweet malt without being too much. The mouthfeel is slightly chewy and drinkability is fantastic. A great brown ale, and the best I've had yet.
