Aroma: Caramel and Malts
Appearance: Dark Brown
Flavor: Caramel and Nuts
Palate: Sweet with dry finish
Overall impression:Good brown ale, caramel and oats are prevelant in this beer, not as adventurous as others. sprinkle (114) - Arcadia, Michigan, USA - OCT 26, 2005
Sweet carmel malts on the nose, cloudy brown with small head. Nicely balanced with hops, no lingering sweetness which is nice. Good fall session beer. MHED (114) - lisle, USA - SEP 2, 2007
12 oz. bottle. Pours a brown mahogony color with a frothy tan head. Nice lacing. Medium to heavy body. Aroma is malty sweet, nutty and dark caramel. Starts sweet with caramel, bisquit and malt. Has that fresh toasted bread flavor which is balanced by the nutty sweetness and finishes drier than normal for many beers similar.. One of the íBest Bownsí I have had. Pours a ruby brown with a slight tan head. Sweet bready and nutty aroma. Sweet malty taste with a bit of bitter hops in the finish. Very smooth and a very good brown ale.

Bottle. Deep malty aroma, light head and rather effervescent; deep, clear brown. Rich malty flavor with just a hint of bitterness that smooths out; full flavor and feel in the mouth. Very nice cool weather beer. birderbeerer (112) - Virginia, USA - DEC 22, 2010
First whiff is of yeast, then coffee behind it and sweet.
Pours medium brown. Held up to the light it is a deep sap color. Two finger head. Loose lace.
Tastes roasty, sweet, and a little sour. Not overwhelmingly coffee with a tart bite. Caramel malt and a noticeable yeast taste that begins to approach a Belgian style.
Somewhat sharply carbonated. Otherwise, smooth with a little sticky aftertaste.
For a 5.8% abv, this beer has a lot going on. Very interesting and very good. Would make for a great fall session. frpilz (111) - Illinois, USA - MAY 30, 2012
Aroma of coffee grounds, dark chocolate, buterscotch. Dark brown with traces of red color, still opaque enough to barely see through. Dark beige 1/2" foamy head. Smoooooth entry, rich, roasted complex. Hints of chocolate, cinnamon, coffee, and then some slight hoppy bitterness towrads the end, I suppose its slightly balanced in the favor of sweetness, but the hops added were a very nice choice. Mouthfeel is syrupy, thick, clingy which all add to the long aftertaste. Medium bodied , and deliscious. Impossible to have just one. BruceLeroy (111) - North Dakota, USA - DEC 15, 2011
Toasted bread, some hints of caramel and citrus. Good amount of hops. Head disappears quickly. Not too sweet, I like this one, but nothing outstanding. SoberCajun (111) - Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 3, 2010
Pours amber-brown with a one-finger tan head, good retention. Bright malty aroma, citrus and caramel notes balanced with a nice dryness. Crisp malty finish with a touch of hops, nice palate.
