COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

Aroma was very malt heavy with lots of toasted nuts and caramel present. Very dark and brown and dissimilar to Newcastle. Taste was also very malt forward and not what I care for as I prefer an IPA typically. Not a bad beer but of the Brown Ales I still think Newcastle is better.

Bottle from K&L in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is roasted malts, earthy river water. Taste is roasted malts, twigs. Unfortunately not the Best Brown Ale (as advertised) which is disappointing coming from Bell's (but honestly expected since, well, it's a Brown Ale).

Nice smooth taste. Nice smooth toasty taste with hints of chocolate that hit on the back of the throat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

16floz can, COD: 08.09.2017, $7 for a four-pack. Appears a medium-brown color with a half-finger of head. This is a toasted toffee ale, although not as sweet as the confectionery staple. Just a solid, mild mannered brown ale.

Draught @ Sunswick 35/35. Clear reddish brown with large soongy beige head, caramel malt aroma, medium carbonation, medium bitter toasted malt taste, very smooth body, long toasted malt finish. Very smooth and easy to drink.

Tap, ADT. Clear amber brown with a small off-white head. Nuts, caramel, light-roasted malt, cocoa. Mildly sweet. Moderate carb and nicely balanced toasted malt finish. Excellent - does Bell's make any bad beer?

Straightforward American brown ale, the unofficial benchmark for the style, mixing a subtle malt sweetness with a firm but restrained hop finish. Caramel, mixed nuts and a hint of chocolate sit on top of a slight English-style yeasty fruitiness, while the finish grows dry and bready, pine mixing with toast and bitter almonds. Pours a lovely hazed brown with orange edges, giving up a modest off-white head and slight lacing. Nose reminds me of pregaming and postgaming, like football and autumn evenings in a glass. I feel like I've somewhat outgrown this beer--around a decade ago it was one of my go-to brews; now it's more of a nostalgia trip (can't believe I've never logged it)--but still a nice pint.

I love this beer. I had this paired with a rich chicken curry and rice and the depth of flavor in this was out of bounds. Bells makes some of the better beers I've tasted and this one was up there with the some of the best
