A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

Clear brown body with a lasting tan head. Overall sweet aroma with notes of caramel, brown sugar, and bakers chocolate. There is also a hint of grassy hops. Smooth, creamy palate with some nice carbonation biting at the end. Sweet flavor up front. Brown sugar, caramel, and bitter chocolate. Finishes dry with citrus and muted pine. A pretty good brown ale.

Had at Big Daddy's in Helen. Okay, not really in to Americanizing a brown ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

commonmac (1337) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 3, 2017
Can ordered at Sheridan Room with commonshawn. Standard brown cola color. Minimal head. Aroma is muted malt and cereal. Taste has light hints of toffee and caramel letting the malts run the show like you would expect. Light, thin body. Toasted grains playing a role especially at the end. Very unexciting beer in general. Fits the style. Bell's best brown is still just a brown ale.

ttoadee (1581) - Austin, Texas, USA - NOV 2, 2017
Clear light brown, thin tan head. Nose is malt and mild coco. Middle is baking chocolate, roasted grain, hint of cherry, warm well kilned malt. Finish shows a woody bitterness that really wraps it up nicely.

randy1969 (79) - Marengo, Illinois, USA - OCT 30, 2017
The aroma is chocolate, bready malt, with a smidge of coffee. This one pours a red, dark brown with a tan head. Warm malty taste with light sweetness. Light to medium body. Creamy texture with soft carbonation and a soft, crisp and dry finish.

blipp (9691) - La Mesa, California, USA - OCT 27, 2017
Bottle. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Sweet, nutty, and toasty, with low bitterness, and a nice malty finish. Good stuff.

It made my list of top 5 brown ales. Good flavor and after taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

tightslice (1435) - Redwood City, California, USA - OCT 21, 2017
Bottle from K&L in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is roasted malts, earthy river water. Taste is roasted malts, twigs. Unfortunately not the Best Brown Ale (as advertised) which is disappointing coming from Bell's (but honestly expected since, well, it's a Brown Ale).

kleighlamping (3) - - OCT 19, 2017 does not count
Nice smooth taste. Nice smooth toasty taste with hints of chocolate that hit on the back of the throat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

16floz can, COD: 08.09.2017, $7 for a four-pack. Appears a medium-brown color with a half-finger of head. This is a toasted toffee ale, although not as sweet as the confectionery staple. Just a solid, mild mannered brown ale.

sinfull (1798) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - OCT 11, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 11, 2017 Clear, brown color . Big. , off-white head. Toasted bread, cocoa and nuts in aroma. Same notes in sweet taste. Moderate bitterness at the end. Classy.
