COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
One of the most sought-after stouts in Bell’s history, Black Note Stout blends the complex aromatics of Expedition Stout with the velvety smooth texture of Double Cream Stout, each aged in freshly retired oak bourbon barrels for months. The resulting harmony of flavors captures the finest features of all three components: malty notes of dark chocolate, espresso and dried fruits, all buoyed by the warmth and fragrance of the bourbon barrel. Aimed squarely at the stout and bourbon aficionados, Black Note makes a grand statement about the art of the dark.

Awesome! Pours like motor oil, black with thin tan head. Aroma is booze bourbon vanilla and coffee notes. Drinks so smooth, creamy like. Taste is the perfect amount of bourbon, oak, chocolate, coffee, cream. Minimal carbonation but just the right amount. Top barrel aged stout.

Pours thick and super black with a small thin head. The nose is boozey, chocolate, licorice, vanilla, wood, leather and cherry. The taste is high sweet and medium heavy bitter. The texture is sticky and sharp, hot, the body is medium to heavy and finish is long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle in a snifter. Pours black with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of bourbon, roasted malts, a good amount of dark chocolate, a little coffee, cream, and a little bitterness. Flavor so strong of bourbon, cream, and the roasted malts. Thick texture. A great beer.

Draft at Beet & Brat festival at Crystal Mt. Pours dark black. Aroma of roast and bourbon. Flavor of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Big thick body. Great thick mouth feel. I’ve been looking for this for a while and once I saw that Bells was offering it at a local beer festival I made it my first tasting of the evening. Its a sipper of course, but a very good one. Bells has a ton of fine beers and this is one of the best.

Drinking this beer is like the feeling of moving on to a higher plane of existence. The aroma is rich and fudgey, full of plums and cocoa and hints of bourbon, never overbearing. The taste is the same, on an oil slick palate that never feels burdensome. A beer that is easy as hell to drink, that tastes like a bourbon barrel beer without tasting like bourbon, and that is a goddamn feat. This is, without question, the finest BA stout I have ever tried.

Draught. This is a real treat that is worth grabbing if you see it on tap or in a bottle.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2014 This is a great beer! I have not had a stout this good in awhile, that’s for sure. I get chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, caramel, and some coffee in the nose. A super creamy palate finishing nice and sweet.

I love this beer. One of my favorites. Great flavor. Much smoother than other BA stouts.
