COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
One of the most sought-after stouts in Bell’s history, Black Note Stout blends the complex aromatics of Expedition Stout with the velvety smooth texture of Double Cream Stout, each aged in freshly retired oak bourbon barrels for months. The resulting harmony of flavors captures the finest features of all three components: malty notes of dark chocolate, espresso and dried fruits, all buoyed by the warmth and fragrance of the bourbon barrel. Aimed squarely at the stout and bourbon aficionados, Black Note makes a grand statement about the art of the dark.

Ferris (17762) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 4, 2014
Bottle - Vintage 2012 - Bells usual soy and sweet bitter notes. Jet black with a thin brown head. Soy, coffee, chocolate and a nice sweet finish. Big rich mouthfeel which is what I love about these beers. The soy is a bit much for me.

Benzai (16993) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - AUG 22, 2013
Bottle [from trade with Boltz7555] shared with Dutchdrebus, Ansjelaah and Joes @ weekly tasting. Opaque pitch black color, small medium brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, slightly peat, roasted malts, lots of bourbon. Taste moderate to heavy malty, some hops, liquorice, alcohol, bourbon, again a touch of peat. Full body, medium carbonation.

Huge thanks to Derek, as always, for the bottle. Black in color with a small tan head. Aroma is almost overpowering bourbon and vanilla. Rich chocolate and a bit of roasted malt. Simplicity at its finest. The flavor is similarly bold. A touch of alcohol, intense bourbon, oak, and vanilla. Tons of chocolate, some hints of coffee and roasted malt, and a bit of molasses. Excellent, decadent stuff.

Bottle @ Papsø. Thanks Kim. Pours black with a small bubbly brown head. Nose is deep and vinous. Extremely complex. Hard roast, oak, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Low carbonation. Very smooth and full bodied. Taste is sweet and roasted. Quite rough with a lot of oakyness, alcohol and some hops in the end.

Scopey (16524) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 9, 2013
Bottle consumed at THE stouts tasting part 2, thanks to Bruce. It pours near black with a small light tan head. The nose is chocolate, gateaux, dark fruit, vanilla, toasted coconut, bourbon and sweet coffee. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, toast, bourbon, light warming alcohol, mild acidity, some bitterness, earth and baking chocolate with a bitter, ashy finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Very smooth, well-balanced and surprisingly drinkable. Good stuff.

Thin mouthfeel with a sweet chocolate malt and vanilla and mice smooth finish. Easy to drink a very impressive Imperial stout from Bells. Really enjoyed this one.
