Hazy, pinkish, amber body with a fizzy, quickly diminishing head. Odd aroma that contained mild, tart cherries, caramel, wheat bread and some residual sweetness. Nothing too exciting in the body. As with the head, it was a little fizzy and didn’t excite me at all. Luckily the flavors were a little better than the nose, but sill not overly exciting. The cherry flavors become more prevalent and the other flavors drop in the profile, giving only a bit of support in the background. All told, this is a little disappointing, considering some of the excellent beers made in Kalamazoo (Comstock). OKBeer (1171) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - JUL 11, 2005
2005 RBSG Montreal Friday Night Tasting. Cloudy dark amber colour with a frothy off-white head. Light sweet cherry aroma with some yeasty notes. Sweet cherry flavour with a lightly astringent bitter finish. Medium bodied, very dry. BlueDevil0206 (122) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUL 12, 2005
Bottled. Thanks to pailhead. Pours a very cloudy reddish amber. Aroma is of caramel and malt with some fruitiness....but, surprisingly, not really of cherry. Hops barely present in the aroma. Flavor is sweet and fruity and yeasty, but again, the cherry is not really the dominant fruit flavor. More of a apple, orange, pineapple type fruit profile with cherry in the background. Decent amount of hop bitterness and a slight sour and dry finish. Body was fairly full and it went down easily with moderate carbonation. Not the best fruit beer out there. emptytankard (36) - Illinois, USA - MAR 16, 2006
Pours a deep reddish brown with a great cherry aroma. Somewhat tart with a juicy and somewhat sour finish. In the end, a bit too thin and one-dimensional. DrHomolka (761) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 8, 2008
On tap. Pours a pretty burnt orange color with a small white head. Aroma is not as strong in cherry as I’d imagined it would be. They are still definitely there but a lot of malt aromas are there too. This doesn’t smell too promising, kind of reminds me of a lot of bad fruit beers I’ve had. Cherries are tart and light, malts are biscuity. Flavor is slightly tart, watery, very thin bodied and quite bland. I was glad I got to try this but it’s certainly not one of Bell’s better beers.

Shared by Goldtwins. Pours a very murky disgusting brownish red with a fizzy head that dies in a couple seconds. Aroma at first is so muddled and murky it is hard to even detect much cherry- just dirt, earth, sweet caramel and light chocolate matls- as it warms the cherry juice comes out ok. Flavor is also messy, with some chocolate malts, toasty nutty malts, and caramel sweetness, with some cherry juice to screw things up. Mouthfeel is a bit thick and messy- just a wierd turbid mess of a beer. TheShat (131) - Lakewood, Ohio, USA - MAY 24, 2008
I am not much of a fruit beer fan. This one is certainly not bad. THe cherry tartness is there in the flavor. The color was a beautiful amber red. Sour alcohol finish. kmweaver (3207) - Petaluma, California, USA - SEP 22, 2008
12oz bottle, purchased at Embassy in Warren, MI. Pours a dark, pulpy red raspberry color; thin-pinkish head that quickly fades. Slight metallic note over a muddled, pulpy cherry character in the aroma; pureed bing cherries with average acidity. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy, pitty cherries and strawberries upfront; some fruity tannins; very light citric tartness and solid levels of acidity; decent presence in the mouth, if a touch undercarbonated at this point; solid, genuine cherry notes with some breadiness at the core; tastes better than it smells. Medium finish: red fruits (cherries, especially), light toasty and bready malts, and a touch of citrus. iwantalambic (1478) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 7, 2005
12 oz. bottle, fresh: Muddy red-brown, thin cream. Medicinal, sour cherry sauce. Light maltiness, but mostly artificial and syrupy. Not as refreshing as I was hoping. Lingering cherry skin hop bitterness leaves a decent taste in the mouth, but Larry and the boys can and do much better. CapFlu (5129) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 11, 2005
(Bottle) Sampled at RBSG 2005 in Montreal, Canada. Very lactic nose with undertones of cherry and Hot Lip candy. Thin almond head with a deep amber body. Sour cherries with a medicinal unbalance.
