3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark brown with slight red hue, thin dark tan head, minimal lacing. Aroma is wonderful of roasted malt, brown sugar, chocolate covered cherries, and caramel. Flavor is only solid, since it tastes literally like some cherry juice was added to a solid stout. Altogether interesting though.
UPDATED: SEP 27, 2017 pours black ,creamy med brown head. cherry taste is welcoming with out being too sweet .a favorite for sure Mr. LeBREWski (1) - - AUG 2, 2017 does not count
To start this brew, it pours a very dark brown (almost black) body with a reddish-champagne head. It’s taste well balanced of cherry and malt, neither overwhelming the other and low on carbonation. The aroma is of roasted cherries. GIJOE (1251) - North Berwick, Maine, USA - JUL 25, 2017
Pours black with a thin, creamy, tan head. Nose is roasted malts, cherry, and a hint of booze. Taste is well-balanced. Nicely bitter cocoa tones balance the malty sweetness and dodge the possibility of a sugar bomb reminiscent of a cherry cordials. Very nice brew. oobawa (1659) - Tennessee, USA - MAR 27, 2017
No clue where this score will end up; Bell’s Cherry Stout seems to evolve as it warms, growing more complex and intriguing once you get past the initial blast of cherry tartness. Nice chocolate baseline upon which the cherries flourish, rich and semisweet, giving a solid foundation for the fruity soul of the pint. Never grows sweet, an appreciable touch considering the style’s cherry cordial potential, and a modest but noticeable bitterness firms up the finish. Nose should be better, but otherwise a good beer. Bottle from a Meijers grocery in Holland, Michigan. Black with a tan head, a bit too bubbly to be perfect. Strong aroma of tart cherries and bitter chocolate. Flavour is tart and bitter, with cherries almost overwhelming the chocolate. Strong on the alcohol, it is quite easy to drink. Super nice, but perhaps I was expecting some stronger sweetness on the character overall.

Bottled. Pours pitch black with an off white head. Lots of cherry as it warms but there’s something smokey in the flavor I do not like. crajun (1259) - , Texas, USA - NOV 20, 2016
bottle rec’d in trade; aged for awhile. knew I wouldn’t like it - at least a found a nephew to share it with. too much cherries; sweetness; hint of vinous. not for me. gephross100 (943) - Bellaire, Texas, USA - OCT 22, 2016
Bottle thanks to sherrice. Dark brown with a light brown head. Light mouth feel. Cherry and roasted malt nose. Average carbonation. PanMarek (462) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 16, 2016
Dark, malty nose with some chocolate and cherry. Dark brown / black pour with creamy beige foam that persists. Heavy body with slick texture and light fizz. The roasted malts come out in the taste with a touch of bitterness that balances the cherry tartness well.

Black pour with a thin light tan ring of foam around the glass, giving off a lovely nose of black malt roast, dark bittersweet cocoa, and a big dose of cherry. Smooth and wonderous flavor that starts sweet and dark chocolaty, gets a tart but fleshy bit of cherry juice, there’s a wee bit of roast and black malt, then a cherry flesh and light tart juicy finish with a touch more chocolate in there. Delightful.
