COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The basic inspiration for Bell’s Christmas Ale was to create a sessionable holiday beer, using locally grown malt, which would stand apart from the array of spiced winter warmers that are typically introduced this time of year. In contrast to many other seasonals, Christmas Ale doesn’t contain any spices: all of the dry, toasted notes & subtle toffee flavors come from the 100% Michigan-grown barley, custom malted by Briess Malting, while a blend of hops from Michigan & the Pacific Northwest lend earthy, herbal aromas. At 5.5% ABV, it stands as a smooth, highly drinkable beer intended to complement holiday menus, not overshadow them.

I love this beer. Most Christmas ales have too many spices and are overpowering. This is the best christmas ale because of the great flavor. it just tastes like Christmas

My favorite autumn/ winter ale: Aroma: sweet-herbal; dried alfalfa; clove/leaf-pile yeast aroma (Scottish ale like) Appearance: Amber; hazy-copper ; beautiful! Taste: malty; slightly sour-malt; deeply earthy at start; floral then light-spice; finish is bitter/hops but metal/copper sweetness; balanced contrasts through-out. Palate: Clean, brightly carbonated; sharp; necessary due to malty base of this ale. Overall: My personal favorite; almost year round; a big malty Munich with Michigan hops ... Or is it a Scottish ale that’s too hoppy but bright & crisp? Too me its Bell’s Christmas Ale ... There can only be one ... And it’s a holiday treat all around!

Great hop aroma. A great mix of barley malt and hops. Great finish. Good beer.
