Cask at Duckworth’s in Huntersville. Roasty, nutty, slight char, malty aromas. Roasty, cocoa, malty, slight nutty, slight boozy flavors. Didn’t impress me too much, but I’m not a huge fan of casking b3shine (8870) - Indiana, USA - OCT 8, 2016
Draft to pint at the Eccentric Cafe. This was just rereleased and should be unretired, and this batch is 8.5% abv. Not sure if it’s oak-conditioned like the original though. Looks good; a fairly opaqur dark brownish plum with off-white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells malty with a strong milk chocolate presence. Tastes like it smells with a touch of herbal hoppiness. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. Enjoyable. ryan (3186) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - JUN 30, 2010
Dark brown body with a small light tan head. The nose is buttery coconuty bourbon, dark fruits, toffee and rum. The taste is moderately sweet, lightly bitter with chocolate, lots of bourbon, raisins and figs. Full sticky body is soft and round with moderate carbonation. Nicely done. On draft at eccentric. rich, yet more crisp than you might expect. a little alcohol on the flavor, but otherwise superb. MrStitch (137) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 3, 2008
On tap at the Eccentric Cafe. Pours dark wood brown with a skinny tan head. Smell is coffee beans, wood, earth, scotch, and walnuts. Flavor is wonderful with all of the smells evident in the taste. Mouthfeel is smooth with a dry finish. Would like to see Bells Bottle this one.

Quality. Pours from the tap like molasses with hints of ruby in the darkness. Trim white head and an invisible cloud of bourbon floating on top. Loaded with cocoa. Easily the best beer they had on tap when I was there last. SQNfan (591) - Wheaton, Illinois, USA - JUL 7, 2008
On tap at the Cafe: This poured deep brown, almost black, in color with a thin head. The nose showed off scents of bourbon, smoke, vanilla, caramel and chocolate. In the mouth it was lighter than the nose suggested. While overall quite nice, the barrel aging was a bit potent and distracted more than anything. Maybe it was the specific barrels as the beer seemed like with different barrels it would have come off as softer, rounder and more complex. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 6, 2008
on tap at the eccentric cafe. pours very dark brown with off white head. nose of whiskey, toasty, vanilla. flavor is sharp whiskey, buttery, caramel, watery, a bit charred. very prickly watery alcoholy finish. bourbon is just way over done. punkrkr27 (903) - Berkley, Michigan, USA - JUN 12, 2008
Tap at the Eccentric Cafe. Dark mahogany colored pour. Sweet molasses aroma with notes of alcohol, rum, butterscotch, oak, and vanilla. Flavor reflects the aroma but with some plum, fig, licorice and a flowery hint of rose in the finish. Oily medium-full body. fiver29 (1036) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - JUN 6, 2008
On tap pours dark brown with a tan head. Has a nice aroma of chocolate and bourbon. Has a medium mouthfeel. Taste is mostly vanilla with some bourbon on the side and has a nice chocolate aftertaste. Overall I really liked this beer more than any other beer I had on tap today.
