2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Very watery non-descript. Rye pale ale and ads they go are generally not real good as this one proves. Just gets a standard meh.
On tap at Bell’s. Sampled against the 2012-6 and this was the lesser of the two. Grassy, pine, light citrus but not as well developed. Good, but not great. deyholla (11900) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 26, 2012
Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a near clear amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of earthy eye with a grass hop backing. Flavor starts with earthy rye that lasts throughout and is joined by grassy hops and a hint of earthy flora. b3shine (9019) - Indiana, USA - DEC 23, 2012
Draft to taster at Bell’s. Looks solid; a transparent orange with off-white lacing. Smells semi-sweet and hoppy. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Not bad. crossovert (13413) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 23, 2012
An earthy but sweet pale ale. Rye is more noticable than the hop profile, next... JPDurden24 (1675) - Chandler, Arizona, USA - NOV 19, 2012
On tap at Eccentric, golden amber pour with a white head. Floral and earthy aromas with a definite rye flavor in the taste. A good brew.

Tap. Aroma: spicy and woody hops with a touch of fruitiness. Golden/orange pour, white head with average retention/lacing. Toasty malts meet mellow spicy/earthy hops in the flavor. Fruity esters and a touch of caramel as well, not so complex, but tasty nonetheless. Body is on the thin side, medium carbonation. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - NOV 10, 2012
Sampler pour on tap at the Eccentric Cafe (Kalamazoo, MI). Pours a well hazed amber orange hue, glowing edges, darker body. Frothy offwhite head dies to a film, laces small. Aromas are gentle florals, spicy, mellow earthy hopping. Gentle sweet doughy malts, some bread, touch of biscuit, and gentle resin. Kiss of lemon. Initial is different, lighter end of the fold with some dry earthy hops, mellow florals, touch of lemon. Some bready malts, pale, grainy elements. Mellow hopping is a bit flabby, some crispness up front, understated dry finish with some florals, grass, and gentle plucks of citrusy lemon rind. Ok. Draft at brewpub. Poured clear coppercolor with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate earthy hop and rye aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a solid bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good brew. On tap at Eccentric. Body is a fairly clear gold with a smallish head and aromas of cat pee, lemon, a little funk and rye or something. Flavor is like a rye and cascade hops, but with slightly edgy bite to them. Pretty thin on the palate and not a full flavored offering. I did have to go back and edit this, coz the last sip was lovely. Tropical fruit came out of nowhere and changed my mind. I’ll have a pint of this next time.
