One of the earliest examples of the Russian Imperial Stout in the United States, Expedition Stout offers immensely complex flavors crafted specifically with vintage aging in mind, as its profile will continue to mature and develop over the years. A huge malt body is matched to a heady blend of chocolate, dark fruits, and other aromas. Intensely bitter in its early months, the flavors will slowly meld and grow in depth as the beer ages.
Available October-March.

Draft to taster at cappy’s pour opaque black with thin tan head. At least this one has a head, every bottle I’ve ever had of this beer has been flat as a pancake. Nose moderate roasted malt, earthy, almost boozy. Taste burnt malt, high astringent, molasses, raisin. All with the background of syrup. At least the mouth feel is nice. I’ve had plenty of top 50 beers but this beer escapes me, I just don’t like it.

Smells heavily of tamari/soy sauce. Taste has amazingly heavy roast and is syrupy thick/sweet. Really amazingly smooth for so much roast but cannot get past the soy sauce overtones. Would not buy again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Deep brown, might as well call it black, with a quarter inch or more of dense light brown foam. Aroma is malty with a hint of maybe figs and dates. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, with just the right amount of hops to counter the sweetness. Bit of an alcohol burn on the finish. Spectacular.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2017 Pours black and headless. Aroma is heavy chocolate, plums and roast. Taste is is dark chocolate with a little espresso bitterness building finish is pure chocolate. An excellent imperial stout.

Pretty much black color with a thin brown head that dissipates quickly. Aromas and flavors are like chocolate covered dried fruit with a roasted backing. Full body almost syrupy. Lengthy finish.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2017 Deep black with no head. Solid flavor of cherries, vanilla, coffee. Malty with a little hoppiness . Well done

A nice, yet pronounced malt forward. Rich mouth feel and low carbonation. No light shall pass! darkness, with light head. Yup, the resinous fruit flavors are there. Could be this seasons favorite.... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. It poured a dark brown almost black color with a tan head. The aroma was of dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, dark fruits and some alcohol. The taste was similar to the aroma with more dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, dark fruits, alcohol and with medium carbonation and a heavy sweet aftertaste. Very good.

Bottle Aroma-caramel, chocolate, coffee, peanuts Appearance-brown, hazy, tan foam, Taste-medium bitterness, medium sourness, medium sweetness, Palate-full body, oily feel, average carbonation, long finish, Overall-perfect

Pours a nice black color with a thin one finger khaki head. The aroma is booze, charred malts, brown bread, vanilla, and some dark fruits. The flavor is a nice combination with the booze pretty noticeable in the flavor. There is some bitterness but coming from the charred malts. The mouth feel is on the heavy side and is more of a sipper.
