UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 A: Orangish-wheat colored body. Not much in the way of a head. Just a light, white skim. A couple small clumps of lacing.
S: Quite a bit of prickly, funky brett. Light citric notes, bread, biscuits, pepper and yeast.
T: Like the nose, this is dominated by prickly brett notes. A bit of spice, wheat, grain and light lemon-orange citric notes. Fairly bland.
M: Light-medium bodied. Good carbonation levels. Lingering brett finish. Super-dry.

[Draft @ City Tap House] Murky golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of brett, wood, toast, and some sweeter toffee notes. Pours a cloudy golden creamsicle orange color with burnt orange hues when held to a light source and a half finger quite head that quickly fades away leaving a thin lasting ring.
Slightly funky, bretty tart aroma with hints of bready yeast, crisp light frit, peppery spice and more bretty efervesence. Underneath the brett there are hints if tangerine and citrus peel in the nose.
Surprisingly full bodied and chewy with lots of bready yeast, peppery spice and citrus fruit accompanied by a slightly puckering funky brett flavor that isn’t overpowering at all. Hints of clove and peppery spice add cmplexity and comlimenting the dryness of th brett. Like a stenage wheat/wit, Belgian strong and wild ale hybrid. Very well balanced with nonparticular flavor overpowering the other. Sour heads will want the Brett to be more prominent but he unique way that each flavor bounces off each other is very appealing to me. Very refreshing and dangerously drinkable. Recommended.

I overheard a Bell’s brewer at City Tap House for Philly Beer Week that he thought it came out too spicy, but I thought it was just weird. The wild yeasts weren’t that overwhelming, they gave the beer that nice sour smell that I like, but there was just an odd flavor to it that I wasn’t liking all that much. I had this on tap at the eccentric cafe. I’m writing this way late, so my thoughts aren’t super current, but this beer was memorable in how awkward it was. It poured a hazy amber orange with an off white head. The aroma was quite herbal/floral, and also sweet, but maybe a bit butterscotchy? It tasted funky, hence the name?, and while I wasn’t a fan, it gets a point for being interesting. Sampled at Big Beers, Belgians, and Barleywines. Pours clear light yellow with a low fizzy white head, somewhat lasting with no lacing. Aroma is medium bready and grainy malt with pepper and spicy, earthy hops and lemon notes. Medium malt flavor with some yeasty notes, black pepper and hops. Medium-light body, low carbonation with a slick finish. Not much of a sour ale.
