3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 26, 2013 Balanced and hoppy without being overly aggressive or bitingly bitter. Cat pee. Lime, grapefruit, hints of stone fruit. Cereal with honey. Hints of mint. There is complexity, just not a fan of so much cereal - reminding me of... bud heavy with a solid hop profile?!
Drank a sixer in six different glasses for fun. I much prefer this in the glass I normally drink IPAs in, rather than the larger, wider glass I generally employee for IIPAs.
Overall, there’s about 2 seconds of each whiff, drink, and after taste where I get the legendary status. All the lime hits the honey and creates a few mouth-watering moments. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience is full of corn flakes.

Pours from 12oz bottle a cloudy orange with a smallish head of foam that quickly shrank and then left no trace.
The smell is a very hoppy with big notes of grapefruit.
The taste on first sip is certainly hoppy. Plenty of grapefruit hitting my palate and hitting it in a good way. I note a good malt presence that gives it a nice sweet counter to the hops. It seems to be in perfect balance.
Man, a few more sips in as it warms up a bit and the hops are now in almost total control and..I'm loving it. Oh wait, there goes that malt presence again; dang, just when you think the hop bitterness is going to take over completely, that malt comes back and yells at you. ;^) Even the finish, at various times, seems to alternate between hop bitterness and malt sweetness. I shake my head on how this could be so...
I appreciate DIPAs that are hop dominated and ones that have a good hop/malt balance and this one is an excellent example of the latter. I wouldn't hesitate to try HopSlam again. Not for a second. ;^)
Bottom line: Absolutely delicious. Thanks to Wasatch for allowing me to try this wonderful brew! DaRoguebastard (2) - North Carolina, USA - SEP 20, 2017 does not count
An extremely well made IPA, citrusy and piney, not sure it's worth all the hype though. Bacchus66 (940) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 30, 2017
12oz bottle at home. Golden orange with a sticky white head. Hops, hops, hops. Grapefruit, orange, mangoes, peaches, gooseberries, floral and citrusy hops, caramel and bread. Oily texture. Juicy, bitter finish. The hops more or less mask the alcohol here, be careful. Great stuff. ronnie_c (1) - - AUG 15, 2017 does not count
UPDATED: AUG 15, 2017 Just awesome. The honey adds the perfect touch to the immense amount of hops in this beer.

Amazing beer. Not too taxing on the palate, but with a good strong hop flavor and aroma. Strong citrus notes. Drink it fresh.

Piwo ze styczniowego rozlewu, więc nie pierwszej świeżości. Mimo to jest powalające. W aromacie intensywnie owocowo. Ananas, brzoskwinie i cytryna. Piwo niemal klarowne. W smaku słodko gorzko. Spora goryczka, ale nie zalega. Mega pijalne. Topowe. Mniam.

The beer’s got a great look: orange/light amber with a bubbly head. Even though it’s an older can at this point in the year, the moment I cracked it open the aromas from those Northwest hops exploded out. Dominant floral aromas, raisins and a boozy note to finish things off. It’s also got a bit of a bready aroma in there too, which is surprising to pick up in a DIPA. Overall, it’s a deep, complex beer that held up over the last few months nicely. It’s in the ballpark of a Pliney. bb (9789) - Alamo, California, USA - JUN 14, 2017
Can. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and pine aroma with tropical fruit. Summer fruit and grapefruit flavor with light pine. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Pine and grapefruit lingers with summer fruit and light malt backing. Honey slightly noticeable.
