On tap at Bells for all stouts day. Again from my notes.. Pours dark and thin, not much head, very solid coffee base, coconut really is just tasted by the sweetness. It’s like Java Stout only if it were made with better coffee beans. Damn solid, yet I’m a little disappointed. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUL 14, 2014
Sampler Flight pour on tap at Eccentric Cafe (Kalamazoo, MI). Pours a deep blackish ruby hue, a darker opaque middle leads to brownish ruby glow on edges and bottom. Frothy light brown head atop is firm, dies to a decent ring and laces ok. Aromas are a bit fudgey, coffee and cocoa meet gentle roast, toffee and toast elements with some more coffee, espresso and gentle coconut. Not the most potent nose but enjoyable, balanaced. Initial is medium bodied, perhaps a bit firmer with nice java and coffee elements. Toast, toffee and roast. A firmer earthiness, coffee elements, soil, and peanut shells. Gentle coconut, toast and earthiness. Middle is a bit toasty, firmer java and espresso elements set the pace: dry, roasty and coffee driven. A bit of cocoa, earth and toastiness sustains. Backend is earthy, dry and coffee driven. Really solid stuff, a richer element with just a touch of Tootsie Roll, espresso and coffee, touches of cocout, carmelized malts and gentle toffee. Quite easy in body, delicious flavors. The nose falls a touch behind but overall this is a wonderful treatment and beer. fattybladdy (830) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - JUL 10, 2014
Draft, pours a dark brown with little to no head. Taste is pretty similar to regular java stout but with some oak and a bit of sweetness added by the coconut.

On tap via snifter at the eccentric cafe. Black dark pour. Amazing aroma of espresso and a touch of sweet coconut. Taste is close to the standard java with a bit of coconut but more in the nose. A bit thin for a stout but probably about right for the lower abv. Pretty damn good stuff Silphium (3198) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - DEC 28, 2013
Draft, Roll out the Barrel Party at the Eccentric Cafe. Deep opaque brown-black body, medium to thin light brown head. Big coffee and tannic vanilla nose. The body was all vanilla extract and coffee bean. Pretty good, but I prefer plain old Java Stout. koleminer20 (4091) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - NOV 3, 2013
On draft at All Stouts Day. The pour is a dark brown, creeping toward black, with a decent head that fades to a light film. The lace left is pretty intense. The aroma is so full of the coconut that it almost brings the beer to smell like a weed. There are light roast and espresso notes that follow it up. The flavor is the same thing. You're blasted with so much overwhelming coconut that the flavor isn't great at first. It fades slowly and into a great coconut flavor and finishes thickly like a Java Stout should.

Aroma is super coconut, and a bit of Java. Appearance is dark black, light brown head. Taste is a ton of coconut, followed by coffee. Mouthfeel is perfect, thick with soft carbonation. Overall, pretty good and recommended for coconut lovers. pantanap (3367) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 3, 2013

Mostly solid black with auburn edges and a thin wispy off white head... Barrel aged bourbon sour mash with hints of spicy coffee grounds ... Chocolate and subdued older coffee with coconut being a stretch to find. Way too thin for an advertised 11% brew. Medium carbonation. More roast on the backend.
