Nice aroma of coffee, roasted malt, dark chocolate, touch of molasses, light milk chocolate. Poured into the Pint very dark, with a large foamy dark tan head, that slowly became a thick creamy cap. Left thick lacing on glass. Strong, but pleasant coffee flavor with a nice bitter dark chocolate flavor, light touch of milk chocolate and a slightly burnt roasted malt flavor. While bitter, it wasn’t overpowering, just a nice robust flavor. Nice full body that is very, very creamy, very enjoyable, very smooth. Carbonation is slightly stronger than average. A long pleasant bitter finish, that wasn’t overpowering but nicely robust. I enjoyed this beer quite a bit. I am not a big coffee stout fan, although I love stouts. But, this is one I will definitely have again! It is a very fine beer by Bell’s, which always seems to put out very good brews. If you like coffee stouts definitely give this one a try. If you like strong coffee, strong dark chocolate, definitely give this atry. If you like stout also give it a try. Very good job by Bell’s!

Pretty much the standard when it comes to coffee stouts. Dry, chocolatey, and full of black coffee notes, backed up by a modest vinous java acidity and a long, bitter, roasty finish. Notes of anise, char, and toasted nuts, while the back end steadfastly refuses to grow sweet. Pours a deep, dark black with a modest beige head and slight lacing. Mocha nose isn't as rich or deep as you'd expect, but the taste makes it all okay. Moderate carbonation gives the perfect texture. Classic beer.

Man, what a beer. It’s so full of coffee and roasted malts and it’s got coffee bitterness with malt sweetness and this mouthfeel that eases the senses. Wow what a beer. I think the only thing that keeps me from giving this a 5 is that it isn’t quite as good as breakfast Stout, but it’s pretty darn close.

Bottle from Harris Teeter, Hampstead, North Carolina. Black with a thin off-white head. Includes dry roasted malts with a huge hit of coffee that’s a little more stated in taste than its nose.

Pours black with khaki head. Scent and taste are replete with coffee. Dark chocolate also makes its presence known. Slight bell pepper spice at the end of the nose. Some toffee in the taste. Heavy body and smooth texture. Mildly bitter coffee finish.

Pours a dark black and you will notice the coffee aroma right away. Lots of coffee flavor in this one but not bitter like coffee can be sometimes. A bit of chocolate and malt rounds this out to make it a very nice brew.

Bottled 10/16. Pours pitch black, tan head. Aroma is overwhelmingly coffee, roasted malt, some chocolate. Mostly coffee, and some roastedness. Flavor is coffee heavy, chocolate, roasted malt, bitter coffee finish. Fairly full-bodied. A little one-dimensional, frankly, but the body is solid, the coffee bitterness in the finish is there without being over the top, and it’s pleasant. Simple, but good execution. I’d have it again.
