12 oz bottle courtesy of Dak. Thanks again for the extensive Bells stout hookup! Deep brown, almost black pour, with a 1 finger, nut brown, head. Strong nose of roasted coffee, unsweetened chocolate, and wood. Smooth mouthfeel with the definite dryness of coffee. It is pretty dominating at first but the roasted malts and chocolaty notes come out as the beer warms a little. Itís almost a little too drinkable. I could see putting a few of these down in one sitting.

January 2017 - Bottle in Barcelona, picked up at BierCaB for about Ä7, as íBellís Java Stoutí, 7.5%. Opaque black with a foamy brown head. Aroma is rich coffee, toffee, caramel and some light green pepper. The coffee character has that slightly faded vegetal note which you get in this sort of beer after a couple of months. Body is smooth with soft to tingly carbonation. Taste is rich coffee liqueur offset with an earthy dryness, some cardboard and light tart red berry notes. Like all coffee beers, this would be at its best fresh. But this is still a very tasty beer.

Bottle, 355ml. Opaque black, small creamy light brown head. Aromas of coffee, spices, nuts. Medium to full bodied. Smooth and creamy. Medium sweet, medium bitter. Rich roasted coffee flavors. Spicy finish. Very pleasant.

From a bottle into a North Coast chalice. Pours black with brown head and lace. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Medium carbonation and significant mouthfeel. Flavors of dark chocolate, roasty malts, slight grains, coffee, milk chocolate, malted milk balls. Overall rich and lovely. Bellís has for many years made a vast array of lovely stouts, and this is one of them.

Pours a dark brown color with a roasted malt aroma. Taste is truly coffee, distinctly espresso, with a nice stoutly beer flavor. The alcohol content is well hidden in the overall flavor of the beer. Good chocolate with minor bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bellís Java Stout smells, tastes, and even looks like a glass of fresh-brewed Sumatra. If you love the bold, roasty, bitter, and (dark) chocolaty characteristics from this Indonesian variety, youíll probably love this Stout. Java Stout has notes of all that with some char and probably even a fair amount of caffeine. Maybe Iíll have one with breakfast.

Draft. A- Roasty, bitter, coffee. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Coffee, vegetal, bitter. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- Too much of the earthy vegetal coffee and not enough sweetness for me. I thought maybe a dirty tap line was the reason for this but I think it just isnít ass rich as I hoped.

12 oz bottle. Bottled on 10/16/15. (Bellís) Kalamazoo, MI.
Black color with a small tan head. Roasted malt, coffee and some sweetness in the aroma. Coffee is really strong. Bit of a problem for me. The flavor is even stronger... I canít get much more than coffee... roasted malt and some sweetness. Rich.

From Labirratorium. In Teku glass. Playing Magic Duels. Coffee very noticeable here without being unpleasant, although Id prefer a bit less. Leaves a sticky moutheel.

12oz bottle - very dark black pour (like motor oil) with a thin tan head. Massive coffee aroma with lots of roasted grain, dark chocolate and more espresso. Rich flavors (strong coffee, cacao, toffee and burnt notes) and thick mouthfeel. Highly recommended.
