Bottle. Pours black with nice foamy tan head. Extremely roasty with some licorice, a bit of chocolate, and some dark fruit. I’d need to try this again for a definitive rating. My initial impression is that it’s a bit thinner on the palate than the Bell’s Expedition and other stouts, but this was still good. I think the roasted flavor may have overpowered less noticeable notes. Good beer that I need to try again, preferably sober.
Great stout. Strong aroma and flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, molasses with a slight sweetness. Smooth and full. Very dark. visionthing (5407) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 19, 2017
35,5cl bottle from Sip, Tallinn. Pours close to black with a fairly modest, but lasting, beige head. Roasty aroma with dark chocolate, licorice, dark fruits and hints of spices. Medium sweet with lovely, complex roasty flavours and a pleasant bitterness in the finish. Delicious and very enjoyable. Bufordbrewer (47) - Georgia, USA - JUL 18, 2017
Chocolate, coffee, roasty malts. A touch of vanilla. Resin profile from the hops. Well balanced between the malt sweetness and lingering hop bitterness. I’m not getting the licorice, although this sample is near the end of life at 6 months. Nevertheless, this is a superb stout even with expiring life. Black, tan foam, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, full body, and somewhat creamy. Bell’s has another winner. evjoker (12) - - JUL 12, 2017
Not quite as good as the expedition. Dark and creamy but doesn't last long on the tongue.

From cask. Black pour with a thin brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, chicolate, mocha, brown sugar. Lots going on in the glass - molasses, dark chocolate, heavy roasted notes. The body is creamy and supple. Lingering roasty finish, just delicious.

Bottle, 11C. Black with a fat coat of tan head. Fudgy aroma with mocha, black strap, anise and other spices. Silky, fullish bodied. Low carbonation. Not all that sweet with mocha, some molasses, surprisingly modest roasted flavours , licorice becomes more prominent towards the fairly bitter end. A slight creamy/ brioche return right at the end fattens it out nicely. Complex , interesting, good. Might be a grower. ShivanDragon (4205) - Leeuwarden, NETHERLANDS - JUN 24, 2017
Earthy, cocoa, licorice, dark chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla aroma. Pitch black color, can’t see if hazy or clear, small to medium sized brown head. Earth is my thing. Again, earthy, dark chocolate, cocoa, medium bitter with hints of sweetness. Very nice cocoa aftertaste, extremely well balanced. Medium body, soft carbonation. Bottle, 0.355l. Pours opaque black color with thick creamy brown head and great lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, milk coffee and licorice. Taste starts with medium sweet rich roasted malt and chocolate, follows by licorice, grass and mild fruit, mouthfeel is mild spicy, while finish is moderate bitter. Medium to full body, creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. Classic stout with imperial taste... hauxe (835) - Butzbach, Hesse, GERMANY - JUN 2, 2017
Bottle thanks to wombat23. Pours virtually black from the bottle. Aroma is roasted coffee, chocolate, with strong tobacco smoke. Taste is bitter with a cherry undertone that is more sour than sweet. Body is medium with soft carbonation. Overall a very solid beer, but a tick short of great.
