COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a full-bodied stout with plenty of roast flavor as well as hints of molasses and chocolate. Ridiculous amounts of black and caramel malts make this stout smooth, creamy, and utterly opaque.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2012 Pours blacker than Dick Cheney’s heart - taste of coffee, chocolate, and a hint of licorice. Smooth drinking, and complex in flavor. Yum.

On tap in at Laci’s in Syracuse. Pours black with creamy, brown head and nice lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, toast, dark fruit, coffee, chocolate, vanilla and herbal hops . Body is medium and slightly crisp. Taste is similar to aroma. Finish is long and semi-dry. Delicious brew.

UPDATED 10/29/12:- Sampled many times since. Still one of my favorite stouts, but downgraded just a couple points.,,,,,,,,, (Original Review)- This is a top notch stout. Semi-thick dark black appearance. Lots of malty goodies such as chocolate, coffee, caramel....plus added bonus of licorice. Decent hop finish in the end, but this is all about the malts really. Reminded me of a sweeter baltic porter, but well balanced at the same time. Only grabbed a single to sample but can't wait to get a 6 of this. About to try their Cherry Stout now, but don't think it will compare to this.

Bottle, courtesy of DerA, many thanks! Pours black. Aroma is chocolate, molasses, coffee, ashes. Body is medium, but quite intense: Chocolate, with a strong-ish carbonation, a bit of tar. Lingering dark chocolate palate. Surprisingly intense for such a light stout. Deserves all the praise!

Bottle. Black color with beige head. Aroma is earthy, burnt, ash, roast. Taste is ash, black chocolate, roast. Silky mouthfeel with fine-bubbled carbonation. Dry woody finish. Awesome.

UPDATED: MAR 22, 2018 Wow! Beautiful pour from bottle to glass. Big foam that sticks to the glass. A lot of burnt coffee flavor.

Rocky dark beige head stayed on a a near black still body. Big aroma of malt, espresso & liquorice. Medium body, smooth on the palate with a clean aft. Bitter under ripe berry, espresso, under ripe fruit, malt tastes, & slightly meat undercurrent with long sour tangy finish.

On sale @Hoppy House in Braine L'Alleud >> Stout bien exécuté: fort malté et amer.

Bottle pour from Valley Beverage Company. Appearance is opaque black with nice sparkle at the edges of the glass, finger-width creamy, light brown head with decent retention and tons of soapy, leggy lacing. Aroma is rich, roasted (almost burnt) malts with molasses, earth, and dark fruits and hint of anise (at initial pour but fade). Taste is rich, roasted malts, molasses, earth, subtler dark fruits and anise. Palate is full bodied with smooth, foamy texture, average carbonation and dry finish as taste. Overall, strong all around. Would have liked the dark fruits to have shone through a bit more, but that's nitpicking.

Aroma: some mustiness, cocoa, roasted malts, chocolate. Taste: sweet mustiness, cocoa. Beer is silky and smooth. Head isn't impressive, carbonation at low level.
