3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 24, 2010 As ’Bell’s Beer’, late March 2007: Bottle. Some light grassy, floral hops in the sweet nose. Saaz, how I’ve missed you! Clear body, on the yellow side of golden, with a soapy, fizzy white head. Refreshing bittersweet taste, thin but not watery body. Light citrus and bready malt. Creamy feel with a lightly floral, lightly grassy aftertaste. Nice lil summer quencher. [6-3-7-3-12=3.2]
Draught at Finch’s under the name ’Lager of the Lakes.’ Transparent dark golden with firm carb and a very short white head. Big pale malt presence in the nose and obvious noble hops - golden sunshower. Nice and soft taste lays on the palate, gentle nobility (Saaz), sort of chalkiness that overwhelms the malt and hops but which allows the breadiness through at the end. Fun enough for the summer, dry and well made, a great lager. [7-3-7-3-13=3.3]

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
bottle - Pours pale gold and clear with a finger’s width head. The aroma is mild hops. The flavor is also mild though well balanced with hops to accent the sweetness. Medium bodied and easy drinking, this is okay for a session brew.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2008 I thought the art of making a pretty decent pislner was lost in this country, but here’s proof that at least one brewer knows what this style is supposed to be like. Clear gold body, with a quickly dissipating head. Some lacing, and that always pleases me. The aroma is very inviting -- both malts and hops, but a bit more of the latter. The flavor follows the aroma, and the aftertaste is slightly on the bitter side (just the way a pilsner should be). The carbonation is good, but I feel it could be a little more aggressive. If you’re looking for a decent pilsner, I definitely recommend trying this one.

Almost a transparent golden color with tiny head. Aroma is very mild. Light malts, grains and a tad of citrus. Flavor is pretty plain. Not bad. Just plain. Light malts, grains, and light bitter hops.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a bright golden color wih a nice head that simmers right down. A nice flavor with some good bitterness. No real aftertaste. A little citrus-like. Very good. I am an idiot for living in Michigan this long and not trying until now.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a golden color with a white head. Aroma is of yeast, hay, and a hint of some citrus. Flavor is pretty much the same. More flavor then most pilsener style beers. Lacks a little on the after taste, other then that not bad at all.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. Clear light golden color. Head was big, white, and bubbly with good retention and lacing. Smells of honey dripped malty cereal grain and a hint of noble hops. Flavor is similar, but the hops assert themselves much creating a citrusy flavor. They also impart a modest bitterness that is well balanced with the light grainy malt flavor/sweetness. Pretty good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 7, 2007 Sampled from bottle at Larry Bell’s Brickskeller event. Clear golden with a white head. I found the aroma to be subtle yet pleasant; light dough, bread and noble hops. Flavor has notes of light bread/grain, lemon and grassy hops. Moderate level of sweetness/bitterness. The body is medium/light and could’ve used more refreshing carbonation imo. Overall, a very drinkable tasty beer. Re-rate sampled from a cold bottle freshly opened by me. Very nice clear golden appearance with a billowy white head. Simple grainy, lemony, noble hop-y flavor, but very very very drinkable and tasty. Smooth refreshing mouthfeel. Really nice stuff.
