Sample at Eccentric. Pours deep brown with aromas of some kind of slightly tart fruit. Maybe figs with a little tang? Flavor is interesting. Almost a licorice and leather thing going with a little bandaid and fig. Not bad. reggiedunlop (3717) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 16, 2013
pours black with a medium tan head. aroma has nice roasty malts and a touch of sweet wort...grainy. flavor is roasty with mild charred bitterness. mouthfeel is light and the finish is dry and roasty/char bitter. valpoaj (742) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - OCT 11, 2013
Tap pour at EC last month - black body with a rigid brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, toast, hint of licorice & chocolate. Flavor is very similar, with a strong emphasis on the roasted malt character. Palate is light and easy drinking - maybe it felt lighter than it was based on a lot of higher ABV/heavier beers sitting nearby in the sampler. Good drink, if not particularly complex. rosenbergh (11532) - Tampere, FINLAND - OCT 7, 2013
Draught at the Bell’s Eccentric Café, Kalamazoo, MI.njager246 (697) - grand rapids, Michigan, USA - SEP 29, 2013
Black colour with a red hue and small light tan head.
Mild toasted malt, grain and mild liquorice in the aroma.
Toasted malt, mild liquorice and mild hops in the flavour.
Bit of a disappointment.
On tap at bells ec, mild toasted malt aroma with a similar but a little more predominant taste! Great!

Draft at EC. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average fizzy tan head that was mostly lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate toasted malt and bread aroma. Medium body with a dry smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Sold drinkable brew. b3shine (8795) - Indiana, USA - AUG 30, 2013
Draft to taster at Eccentric Cafe. Looks good; cola with thin light beige head. Smells of dark malt and mild bitter chocolate. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. An easy drinker. chinchill (4899) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 17, 2013
On tap at Bell’s Eccentric Cafe.
Black with an extremely durable head.
Rich dark malts, lightly smokey, in both taste and smell. Tastes very much like dark roasted malts.
Near full body and medium carbonation.
T: good sweet/bitter balance, but rather simple: the taste and smell of dark roasted malts and not much else.
O: Light barleywine; good but a bit disappointing.

Deep brown to pure plack pour with bright white thin head. Chocolate aroma, milky and bitter. Light mouthfeel, creamy, soft carbonation, slightly roasty finish. Woodsy and sour taste, definite carmel, chocolate, and licorice. Not a bad light tasting dark beer. coyotehunter (698) - , Michigan, USA - JUL 12, 2013
On tap at Bells 7/11/13. Rich dark coppery brown pour with a yeasty coffee aroma. Light but somewhat dense head. Flavor is a somewhat thin coffee and roasted malt. Finish is clean and clear with a good aftertaste.
