From the shared 750 ml bottle. Carbonation in nose (that smell of a carbonated beer). Body is light with brown sugar and rum. Boozy. Different. Glad to try it. Dfonorow (2250) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 19, 2014
Bottle share at Tribes Alehouse. Pour is dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of rum, booze, and brown sugar. Flavor is similar with the rum barrel leading most of it. Boozy and sweet. koleminer20 (3840) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - JUL 8, 2014
From notes. On tap at the Eccentric Café on June 13. The pour on this one is dark-ish, yet somewhat see-through with a reddish hue around the edges and no head or lacing. Whoa baby. The aroma is blasting with rum and behind that, maybe a hint of licorice and maybe a little barrel. Nothing distinct but that rum. The flavor is just as boozy. There is a little bit more of a caramel/licorice combo on the very front, but the back is hot and dominated by rum. The mouth feel is thin, really thin, and quite hot on the tongue. The aftertaste is all rum, and very hot and boozy. Whoa. wchesser (2121) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUN 11, 2014
Hand bottle from FlandersNed. Thin very translucent brown, doesn’t look like a porter. Nose is rum and some wood, some burnt caramel. Cola, rum, bit of paint thinner, super hot burning alcohol finish. rxeight (3223) - Illinois, USA - JUN 1, 2014
Brought this to fauxbab. Didn’t like this, most people didn’t. Not much rum. More caramel. Thin. Meh.

Draft sample at FoBAB 2013 pours cola brown. Nose all rum and medicinal. Tastes like rubbing alcohol. Wow, didn’t like this one. None of the underlying flavors of a porter to balance out the alcohol. Silphium (3199) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - FEB 23, 2014
Draft, Roll out the Barrel Party at the Eccentric Cafe. Deep toffee brown body, thin to medium cream head with lacing. Spicy, butterscotchy rum nose; sharp and boozy. Body dominated by spiced rum with bready, caramely sweetness, brown sugar, and hints of grape. Harsh and cloying, unfortunately. HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - NOV 18, 2013
Sampled at FoBAB2013. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of booze, rum, sugar, mild coconut and chocolate notes. Flavor is mostly entirely sweet rum notes, burnt sugar, coconut, and booze. The rum barrel is overpowering. If that’s your thing, so be it. It’s not my thing. phaleslu (10553) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 18, 2013
Draft sample at FOBAB 2013. Pours a bright amber-brown with no head. My main note is RUM! Yeah, that’s not exactly subtle here. It overpowers everything. Some dark fruits, some barrel, some sweetness, but I’d be foolish to try to give other tasting notes here. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a hot, coating mouthfeel. If you like rum, you might like this. If not, you’ll hate it. I fall somewhere in the middle. Disappointed and not going to try it again. But it’s not CIB-level bad.
