Tap at fobab 13. Poured a dark brown with a beige head. Aroma was chemicals and lots o rum with mild roast. Flavor was astringent and loads of rum. No sign of a Baltic Porter underneath either. Really glad I didn’t buy a 750 of this. alexsdad06 (10803) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - NOV 17, 2013
Draft at FoBAB. Pours brown in color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have rum, raisins, medicinal notes, solvent, no real Baltic Porter character to speak of, ample sweetness from the rum. This was not very enjoyable, in fact, it was one of my least favorite beers at FoBAB this year. crossovert (13909) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 17, 2013
VEry strong rum aspect to this one, it isn’t harsh but it really does an overtake of the flavor profile. Cbuk1013 (255) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - OCT 17, 2013
If you like rum, you’ll love this beer. The rum over-powers the smell and taste of the porter. You do get a hint of raisin though bartlebier (4123) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - OCT 9, 2013
Tap sampler, Bell’s Eccentric Café, 31/viii/13. The sheer nose of a sample of this immediately screams out what you are in for: rum & raisins, raisins soaked in rum as in grandma’s Römertopf. Extra vanilla, oak and more rum fumes in the taste: making this a tasty enough raisin rum with extra body - but a flawed baltic porter that would need more time to settle into even becoming a beer (give it a few years?).

UPDATED: APR 8, 2014 Tap: Super dark brown, nearly black with a light tan head that survives as a long lasting film and chunky collar. Aroma is heavy, heavy alcohol. Solvent, isopropyl... way, way too heavy on the rum. Some chocolate in the back... maybe. But the aroma is very harsh and mostly just straight solvent. The taste isn’t much better... at all. Huge rum flavor, like literally taking a shot of rum. Mild rubbing alcohol and solvent notes again. Some very mild coconut and back-end sticky toffee are there, once you get past the barrel aging effects... But seriously, the rum is way too heavy for this to be enjoyable. Couldn’t finish this one, just far too harsh and not drinkable in any sense of the word. Not much of a Baltic Porter. coyotehunter (698) - , Michigan, USA - OCT 6, 2013
Strong aroma of bourbon, oak and dark fruit. Taste is very smooth like a good scotch, lots of barrel flavor, cherry, rum and brandy.. Very smooth palate with an enjoyable burn. Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - OCT 6, 2013
On tap: The aroma consists of heavy rubbing alcohol, light rum, and a hint of chocolate. It’s a transparent brown with a touch of orange with a minimal off-white head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of chocolate and caramel. The finish is heavy rum and alcohol. It’s rough...real rough. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, this is WAY too rum forward and the alcohol flavors are too much. It’s borderline doing a straight shot of rum...and I’m not a rum fan at all. Tap sample. Pours clear dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that was lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted dark chocolate, coffee and dark rum aroma. Medium to full body with a thick smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet malt and rum flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of long duration. This is a standout porter. bwa5879 (959) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - SEP 12, 2013
Dark walnut brown to black pour with a small amount of offwhite head. Smells like sour wild ale and red wine, like sangria. Nise nose. Soft carbonation, wine-y mouthfeel, clean finish with just a touch of alcohol heat. Taste is definite rum and what seems like bourbon barrel aged-ness, carmel and vanilla. Tastes a lot like rum, not my favorite but unique.
