Draft, Roll out the Barrel Party at the Eccentric Cafe. Cloudy red-brown body, thick pink head with lacing. Nice tart, sweet currant nose with strong emphasis on the fruit over the base beer. Very tart body, lots of currant, in addition to grassy and sulfuric notes. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - OCT 6, 2013
UPDATED: SEP 11, 2014 Tap: Light ruby and pink, almost purple-ish with a tickle me pink tinted film that thick collar sitting on top. Aroma is lots of sweet currants and an all around "berry" smell; full of different berry jams and berry aromas. Hard to pinpoint a specific fruit. Taste is sweet currants, blackberry, and an assortment of other berries with light grape peel on the back-end. Almost a sherbet-like flavor. Very light and grassy tartness, more sweet overall, though. A good take on Oarsman; refreshing and tasty. Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - OCT 6, 2013
On tap: The aroma consists of berries, light lemon, some funky notes, and a touch of lemon. It pours pink tinted orangish-brown with a pink tinted head. The flavor starts with a light-moderate berries/black currants. The finish has moderate lemon, oak, and a touch of vanilla. It’s light-medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Draft on tap at GTMW 2013 (Madison, WI). Pours a well hazed ruby red hue, copper and berry crimson. A frothy offwhite pinkish head atop dies down, laces ok. Aromas are tart, bready, touches of pulpy berry. Some bread, straw, gentle yet growing lactic appeal. Initial is dry and tart, a bit tannic, firm tartness with good flavors. Tart and lively, mellow carbonation. A firm lactic teang, blackberry gives a nice presence. Gentle citrus, bread. Backend is dry, a bit of berry tannin. Really nice play here. Tart and sour liveliness, berry and crimson lush profile. Odd rating. Really nice beer. crossovert (14134) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 11, 2013
The currants totally elevate this beer, the tartness is there, the fruit is delicious.
