COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Designed as a flavorful session beer, Oarsman Ale uses a classic German brewing technique to impart a light, refreshing tartness. Oarsman Ale grew out of a desire to explore the tradition of session beers, trading intensity for finesse while still creating a worthwhile experience for the taster. The grain bill includes a healthy portion of wheat, while light hopping lend citrus & herbal notes to the aroma. Fermented with Bellís house ale yeast, Oarsman comes in at 4.0% alcohol by volume. Rather than being the dominant flavor note, the tartness in Oarsman takes on more of a palate-cleansing role, making it perfect with meals or purely on its own.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2010 Bottle pours yellow with a lot of carbonation and thin head. Aroma of citrus, light hops, and some bread. Thin, carbonated palate, with a refreshing taste and a bit of tartness. Clean finish with a slight lingering sour aftertaste. Iíd like to session this beer during summer, where I could really appreciate this light and crisp beer. Iím not sure Iíll be able to handle any more extreme sours after drinking this one.

Highly drinkable, very light lactic acid, spices connect everything well. Perfect for summer. But would definitely put it in witbier style.

From Labirratorium. In Teku glass. At lunch, after futsal match, with fried fires + eggs + swordfish. Its sourness is pretty soft, probably balanced due to the wheat. Not unpleasant but maybe a bit flat. A bit watery feeling

Aroma is very clean, floral/ fresh water. Character is light with savory and tartness balanced. Some citrus flavor. Itís like if you made the smell of the ocean into a beer.

Itís a fine beer. Middle of the road. The elusive independent voter they are all pandering for. This is inoffensive conversation at the dinner party. You are meeting your partners parents for the first time and playing it extra safe. Telling stories that donít mention money or politics or anything really. This is the new star wars film, familiar, pleasant enough. This beer gets a nostalgic pass as it reminds me of the many times I have gotten drunk yet also doesnít feel like much of a commitment. I could drink this in the morning even and likely get through it without accidentally uttering the god damn phrase, íyou canít drink all day if you donít start in the morning.í You know what? Once, I saw an artist talk, he was crafted, his work straight lines. I left feeling I hadnít wasted my time yet I wasnít all that inspired either. I went home and reviewed my fridge. I ate a frozen potato patty, leftover rice and stir fry, a salad. The whole thing tasted fine. It all went down just fine.
