almost black, off white head. baking bread aroma with lots of chocolate - chocolate milk, milk chocolate, dark chocolate - the flavour had toasted dark bread with brewed caramel, chocolate and a bit of roasty bitterness. finishes slightly smoky. spot on.

Thanks to bleen for this one. Nearly black in color, with a tightly bubbled, one finger, tan head, this is a tasty porter. The nose has toastiness & dough qualities. The flavor is smooth, with roasted notes. This is a nice drinking porter.

Toasty, bready nose is dead on accurate for the upcoming flavor; This porter is very toasty, mildly dark roasted, quite bready and malty, and lightly sweet, with a moderate bitterness that is in nice balance with the delicate (for a porter) maltiness; Medium bodied, but that bready maltiness contributes substantially to the palate; The color is very dark brown and opaque, almost black, but ruddy brown at the edges; Tan head is quite large during the pour, and retains a coating layer for a long time; A thin, but dense blanket of lacing is left on the glass

This beer poured a deep brown color with a slightly dark brown head which dissipated quickly but did show a tad bit of yeasty clumpiness. The aroma was strange and unique with cooked graham cracker, cooked tobacco, dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted coffee, smokeyness etc. It smelled JUST like some cooked Rice Pilaf...weirdest thing EVER! Flavor-wise it was a little lighter than I would have expected. Light to medium bodied, long lasting maltiness. Some smoked body with coffee and chocolate, but once again a slight burnt rice flavor. Canít figure our what was up with those chunks in the head, hope this didnt somehow get infected, but if it did, i can only imagine how good this could be if it wasnt. Light carbonation, mild dryness. Well rounded chocolates and flavors, but very unique.

Nearly black color, medium head that persists throughout the glass. Aroma of old black coffee, hints of dark chocolate, maybe some tobacco. Between the aroma and initial flavor, this shares a lot of the qualities that I disliked in the Java Stout. This one fortunately improves somewhat as it warms. More black coffee in the aroma, with copious sugar. Medium body, some roast, mildly sticky finish (this is of course a porter). Both the aroma and flavor have this indescribable mildewy funkyness (like canned peas), for lack of a better description, that I have a tough time getting past. Certainly not bad, but there are better porters out there.

Pretty much opaque black, initially a monstrous, brown head that fades to a small ring; medium lacing. Aroma heavily chocolate and vanilla but also quite roasty. Flavor, not surprisingly, is very roasty, but there is a fair amount of mellow chocolate in there, and a touch of straight coffee bean; barely smokey aftertaste. Mouthfeel is very smooth, pretty thick, and best of all not horribly sticky; could be just a touch thicker, though. Overall, very good.

Bottle Pours dark brown with a modest light tan head and smooth thin lacing. A few yeasty bits floating around. Aroma is a bit sweet, carmel, vanilla, dark and nutty. Flavor is very mild, sweet, lightly smokey. Feel is a bit thin but very smooth. A lingering charcoal taste. A very easy drinking porter.

Aromas of butter, nuts, licorice, and coffee. Black, head is tan and thin. Flavor of coffee, dark chocolate, some nuts. A porter canít get much better.

Looks just amazing in my flute...dark as night with a beautiful tan head atop. Aroma and flavor are dominated by toasted malt and roasted coffee. Bitterness is similar to that of an expresso. But for the style, I think it is quite interesting and the chocolate aftertaste is just great. Very, very good.

very roasty aroma with strong coffee overtones...roasty and bitter, with coffee showing up yet again...kind of dry and nutty, but full bodied. Not bad, if not a tad overly roasty and overly bitter.
