A nice porter always available from Bells. Great flavor... was picked among the top in our informal tasting of 20 porters. Roasty, malty with nice mild hops.

Cloudy brown with an off white head. Nice yeasty funk, chocolate, fresh roasted malts, toast, some coffee, and some licorice. Medium bodied with a slight sweet start and a coffee finish (almost dry). I wish there were more assertiveness among the flavors and aromas, but good nonetheless.

This one is pretty good, with nice color and flavor. However, it seems as though Bells has taken the same approach with their porter, stout, and java stout, though in slightly different proportions with the coffee and chocolate. Large tan head, minimal lacing. Dark brown, almost black, some red hues when held up to a light. Roasty, coffeeish slightly buttery nose. Med/full body, creamy textured. Dark ruby-brown colour with a small tan head. Aroma of dark toffee and roasted coffee. Good, sightly creamy mouthfeel. Malty flavour with notes of coffee and chocolate, and a slightly acidic finish that I've noticed with many of the dark Bell's beers. tomxcs (321) - California, USA - DEC 5, 2003

A very dark porter, but unlike their stouts, you can see light through the beer. Very little aroma with a slight roasted malt character. Coffee and malt flavors that are good, just not overwhelming like so many of Bells' other beers.
