3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 16, 2009 Bottled. So I’m sitting here at home after driving around with the wife and kid and her sisters and their kids to the museum, with my car in the shop, and not finding out until late in the evening that they have to keep it another day because the spark plug that they stripped the threads putting in wrong two years ago would have to be worked out carefully, and it was too late to get a loaner so I could go to work tomorrow, and I say to myself, "Self," I say, "You need to settle down with a nice porter. What’s in the fridge?"
Well, this, for one. Pours out a nice deep brown body and a thin brown head. Good smell of chocolate malts. More chicory than coffee. Just a touch of astringency that almost pushes it into stout territory. Roasty and slightly smoky. Nice warming alcohol, despite being a mere 6%. Just the thing to lift my mood, and a great beer to have as part of Bell’s regular lineup, available in finer stores in the Chicago area, too.
Dark brown pour with a short-lived beige head. Notes of coffee, chocolate, quite a bit of dark fruit, I think even some raspberry flavor, smoke, light roast. A very fruity porter, light and sessionable. tia (2228) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - JUL 1, 2017
Tap at Cap Ale Downtown. Very dark with big foamy head and lacing. Smells like toast and roast with a metallic note. Smooth and creamy with a light roasty flavor. fidemaster (324) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - JUN 29, 2017
Aroma is fresh brewed coffee. Dark, pitch black. Coffee taste with a touch of unsweet chocolate. Average mouthful for a porter. Solid, but I wish it gave me more. MavDunk (105) - - JUN 15, 2017
Drank on the porch with a cigar. Pours cola brown with thick tan head. Scent is chocolate and coffee. Taste is similar with cocoa, coffee, and roasted malts. A bit of smokiness and dark fruit as well unless that's coming from the cigar. Good light porter. rougeau13 (3080) - Richmond, Texas, USA - MAY 28, 2017
Bottle at The Exchange in Corpus. Very dark with a creamy tan head. Roasty and dark chocolate aroma with some coffee and some light indistinct hop. Smooth.

Bottle thanks to wombat23. Pours very dark brown and leaves a creamy, tan head. Aroma is chocolate, cow dung(!), a bit of smoke, roasted grainy notes. Taste is nice: lightly sweet up front, smoky, turning both sour and evincing a roasted coffee bitterness going into the finish. Body is medium with a mild carbonation. Overall not bad, apart from that odd fecal note. bvbunited (72) - Ohio, USA - MAY 3, 2017
This is a very good porter. Nicely balanced with great color and aroma. I would recommend this beer to all

Ricas maltas tostadas, chocolate y toque ligeramente ahumado. Postgusto claro a chocolate. Bien rica. Brandon1989 (661) - Lewisville, Texas, USA - APR 26, 2017
Pours a dark brown with a thick creamy tan head that left some nice lacing around the glass. The aroma is of coffee, chocolate, and brown bread. The flavor is more of the same. beern (123) - Alabama, USA - APR 24, 2017
Pours black, amber with a 2-finger pillowy tan head. Tastes of malt, cocoa & yeast
