Dark mahogany brown. The tan head is fairly large, lasts a while and leaves broken sheets of lace on the glass. The nose is of roasted black malt, dark chocolate, vanilla and dark red wine. So far, so good. The flavor, like the aroma, is considerably roasted malty with lovely bittersweet chocolate notes. Notes of cordial cherries are present as well, but chocolate shares equal billing. Thereís also a restrained hoppiness that balances the finish which is long and increasingly bitter, especially as the beer warms. Firm, not quite full body with a lively carbonation. Good mouthfeel overall; a little fizzy for a porter, but it is tolerable. Bellís Porter is a quality brew like all their offerings. Itís carbonation sets it apart from others and its noticeable hoppiness sets it apart from the others. These qualities neither detract of add to the quality; they just make it uniques.

Very nice balance. smooooooooth as heck, interesting musty aromas which i enjoy. there definitely is a bit of smokeyness that comes thru on the back end, along with the typical roast and chocolate malts.

Pint from a 32 oz growellete from "b2 taphouse" in Salem Oregon. $3 ( on sale) Lovely looking beer indeed! Dark mahogany brown body and a large creamy/foamy tan head. Aroma is creamy, nutty and with hints of milk chocolate and medium roast coffee and cream. Taste similar to aroma but a tad less creamy and with more bitter dark chocolate expression. Smokey roasty notes are there..but i think they diminish the beer for some reason. Mouth feel is fine for style begins smooth but ends rather ragged unfortunately. But i guess the bitter smoke stops any hint of it being cloying. A good porter but could have been way better..the looks and aroma made this look like a 4.3 beer.

Draft at Cottonwood - Looks exactly as it should, black with a sturdy beige head, heavy lace. Aroma is heavy on the coffee and cocoa powder, some vanilla and lots of roastiness. Doing well. Pretty creamy for a porter, I like it....a hair slick towards the finish but I enjoy the roasted coffee/chocolate maltiness throughout. A good drink.

Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown hue with a beige head. Aroma of dark malts, roast, coffee. Taste follows nose. Finish is perhaps a tad thin, but I think this is exemplary of the style.

Nice, rich aromas of dark, bitter chocolate, coffee grounds, and toast. Standard black body medium bodied and the tan head is leaving some nice lacing. Flavor follows the aroma with some hints of dark fruit occasionally popping up. Very solid well rounded porter, nice and easy to drink multiples.

Itís a good porter, but itís not very complex. Itís really just the malt, the coffee flavors werenít really there for me. It was somewhat smokey, but I kinda just wanted more. It was just a really balanced porter in the end.
