3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark mahogany brown. The tan head is fairly large, lasts a while and leaves broken sheets of lace on the glass. The nose is of roasted black malt, dark chocolate, vanilla and dark red wine. So far, so good.
The flavor, like the aroma, is considerably roasted malty with lovely bittersweet chocolate notes. Notes of cordial cherries are present as well, but chocolate shares equal billing.
There’s also a restrained hoppiness that balances the finish which is long and increasingly bitter, especially as the beer warms. Firm, not quite full body with a lively carbonation. Good mouthfeel overall; a little fizzy for a porter, but it is tolerable.
Bell’s Porter is a quality brew like all their offerings. It’s carbonation sets it apart from others and its noticeable hoppiness sets it apart from the others. These qualities neither detract of add to the quality; they just make it uniques.
Very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt: coffee, toast, chocolate. Similar flavors follow on the palate. Moderate bitterness with a medium length finish. KansaiBeerLvrs (5378) - Kyoto, JAPAN - NOV 11, 2017
Fron notes. As a Porter I am expecting it to be more roasty and thinner bodied than the stout.
It pours a dark cola black with a filmy tan head and a big roasty chocolate savoury aroma.
Yep, medium to light bodied with a dry finish. Roasty, chocolate, licorice (very very mild) and savoury umami type flavors. This is a really nice robust Porter. o_Merlin_o (235) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 9, 2017
Pours motor oil black. Creamy coffee head with excellent lacing. Aroma of coffee and wet leather. Bitter coffee and wet grass taste. Ewwwww. Poobah (470) - New Orleans, Louisiana, USA - NOV 3, 2017
Dark brown with a thin, light tan head and a milk chocolate, malty nose. Malty with a bittersweet chocolate, dark fruit, dry, espresso finish. SolarSam (87) - Interlaken, New York, USA - OCT 30, 2017
Probably a great porter by style alignment. I like to push the envelope, but this feels good tonight. And if it is winning awards, who am I to dissent?

12floz bottle, BOD: 04.17.2017, $1.75 single, pint glass. Dark brown in color, which with a vigorous pour presents a sustained large tan head that leaves splotchy markings. Malty nose is fairly mild with essences of residual sugars and toasted bread crumbs. Mildly roasted flavor character can be described as nutty, and with further imagination heavily brown laden mashed potatoes. Adequately good for the style, and as a beer for that matter. mesacollier (34) - - OCT 5, 2017
Nice dark color, minimal creamy head, very smooth chocolate and coffee flavor, slight chocolate aroma

12 oz bottle pours black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and a little smoke. Taste is all the same as aroma, very nice. higgsbison (268) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 21, 2017
Notes of bitter chocolate. A bit astringent but not in a good way. I enjoyed it much better when it was warm
