On tap. Pours a brilliant copper/amber/crimson with a fairly substantial khaki head that leaves some intricate lacing. Nose involves some light floral and pine hop notes, toasted malts, and touches of berry-fruit notes. Fairly bitter with some sweetness to balance. Lighter bodied, crisp, vibrant, with a lengthy clean bitterness on the end. Really nice brew, great with pub fare and easy drinking.
Tap at Mr. Brews. Earthy ESB, captures the UK tones in an overbearing US way. Pretty weak representation of the style. Grainy, tries to hone UK finesse and fails. Definitely an unimpressive offering. Really bland, dull caramel tones. Surprised Bells put this out. Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - AUG 7, 2015
On tap: The aroma consists of car, fruit, citrus, and light earthy notes. It’s a transparent amber with a small off-white head that leaves a thin sheet of lacing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts light caramel, citrus, and fruit. The finish has light citrus/grapefruit hops with a touch of earthiness. It’s light bodied with mild carbonation. drfabulous (8577) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - JUL 13, 2015
Draught at Pies and Pints. Light malt with a nice hop profile. Some caramel but overall hoppy and close to APA in taste. bubblehouse (1556) - louisville, Kentucky, USA - MAY 24, 2015
Pretty weak aroma but has a nice flavor and a good redish hue. Not my favorite bells. umich03jm (3512) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - MAY 7, 2015
Tap at The Oak. Clear amber pour with a small head that fades to a thin ring. Aroma has lots of hay and grass, some pine, light caramel, and light toast. Tastes dry, light bitterness, very grassy and piney. Light bread and caramel malt. No way this is an ESB since it seems pretty hoppy and it’s also 6.5%. Decent overall.

Draft pour. Pours a clear amber color with a white head of foam. The aroma has biscuits, mild earthy hops, bread, dry popcorn, vanilla, caramel. Taste is crisp bready sweetness and dry herbal bitterness. Medium body and medium carbonation. Not a bad ESB all things considered. Refreshing, quaffable, tasty. Not much more I could ask for, really. Zeswaft (1780) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 24, 2015
Tap. Copper reddish color. Light pine hop aroma. Flavor is fantastic. Upfront pine and citrus hops that immediately drop off and are balanced by a mild caramel malt. This tastes like a baby Two Hearted that finishes smooth and clean. Super drinkable and delicious. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - MAR 21, 2015
Tap: Clear amber with a burnt copper tint, white head fades to a ring quickly. Aroma is light with notes of caramel, piney hops, earth, mild citrus peel, & toasted nuts. Flavor follows along similarly with lots of lightly dank, pine forward hops, caramel, toast, nuts, grapefruit rind, & mild earthiness. Lingering Munich malt in the finish. Maybe a little overly hoppy for the style, but I’m okay with that. smroush (299) - Michigan, USA - MAR 21, 2015
Aroma is mostly pine/spruce hops. Malt is pretty subdued.
Has a slightly large, creamy looking, off-white head. Beer is an attractive medium amber and is quite clear.
Medium alcohol; medium body; moderate to heavy bitterness. Finish is average length, mostly the hop bitterness.
Overall this is a fairly simple beer, but has good hop flavors and is quite clean and refreshing on the palate. I did not detect the classic ESB fruit flavors. mrohia (280) - Ohio, USA - MAR 13, 2015
Bell's Brewery, Kalamazoo, MI, draft. Not overpowering malt, which is a plus. Nice earthy aroma. Smooth. Light.
