Sampled from the tap at 2011 FOBAB. Poured a near clear golden amber with a yellowish brown head that lasted throughout hte beer. Aroma had a nice amount of rye backed by some sweetness with some vanilla for the barrel. Tap @ Bells. Clear, dark orange appearance with a white head. Pretty rich rye malty, whiskey, oaky, toffee aroma. Pretty light pale malty, grainy flavor with the thicker rye maltiness, vanilla, oak, and whiskey following. Cool beer for sure to try. I think they should bottle this shit. FoBAB 9. Transparent amber gold, thin white head, ring large. Light dough, bubble gum, and grass in the nose. Flavor better with less estery profile, more grassy bitterness, grain rounded with some accented dough, lightly sugary through the pleasant finish, well carbonated keeping the entire thing lively. Draft at FoBAB 9. Pours a nice enough whiskey amber, white head and gold at the edges. Nose is a hit of spicy rye, some vanilla and a strong grain presence. Lots of grainy components. On tasting, it kind of falls apart. The rye graininess comes across as harsh and astringent and the oak throws in some unwelcomed tannins. More vanilla comes in. Very grain forward. FOBAB 2011. Pours a slightly clouded, dull golden colored body with a thin, creamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma has lots of spicy rye. Kind of a weird sweetness to it as well with some citrus and grain behind the rye. A light whiskey barrel and vanilla. Flavor is very weird. Lots of spicy, odd flavored rye up front. A very astringent spicing. Some of the citrus comes in during the middle with some grain before the barrel aging takes over the finish. Lots of whiskey and wood at the end as this wraps up dry with some vanilla coming out in a lengthy aftertaste. Medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, this didn’t work for me. Tasted like borscht. Lots of blended rye bread with a touch of grain and a lot of whiskey-wood at the end with a weird vanilla. Interesting, but not very good.

Tasted on draft at FoBAB 2011. Pours hazy golden with a thick white head that slowly recedes to thin, uneven lace. The nose is dusty lettuce, dill pickles, and a hint of hops bitterness and spicy rye. The flavor is the same dusty lettuce, dill pickle, spicy rye, and some nice bitterness.
