Draft served in a tulip at The Stable. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head that basically settles into a ring. Aroma of mixed malts, dried fruits, minerals, and toast. Flavor of toasted malts, dried pit fruits, floral hops, and a woodsy note. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Crisp, quick finish. Not a whole lot going on in this Scotch ale, but it isn’t bad. Thorpe429 (5122) - , Illinois, USA - FEB 16, 2011
Reviewed from notes.
Pours a dark shade of amber win an off white head that is several fingers deep. Nose brigs sweet caramel and toffee notes and a bit of spice. Taste is fairly sweet and bready along with a hint of spice. Medium body with a nice smoothness. Drinks well; was glad to try it.

Opaque, milk shake-esque, muddy brown beer with a medium tan head. Seriously, a must have gotten the bottom of the keg, because this beer looked crazy. Caramel, dark fruits and light smoke in the nose. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter taste with toffee, raisins, nuts, light smoke and herbs. Medium body is soft with moderate carbonation and a bit chewy?! Pretty sure the chewiness was from the heavy amount of yeast in my pour. FunkyBrewster (1518) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 24, 2009
On tap at Eccentric. Pours deep brown with a small red glow and a thin light tan head. Aroma is rich and malty with a nice dark fruit and raisin character. A small floral hop note sits in the background. I think I picked up some sweet black cherries? Flavor starts with a big roasted malt and some peat and sweet fruits. Again black cherry, currant, raisins, plums. Gains a nice smoky character in a bitter and abrupt finish. Medium body and an active biting carbonation. Nice flavor balance, a bit weak in the aroma but a lot of character to the beer. MrBunn (2867) - The Wet Side of a Dry Town, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 22, 2009
On tap at Eccentric. Pours a medium brown with little head. Aromas of apple and other fruit with a floral edge. Flavor is similar but doesn’t have much of the peat I associate with this style.

Draught at the Eccentric Cafe. Red, burgundy, almost opaque with a creamy thin head that leaves nice full lacing. Full malty flavor. Sweet, roasty notes with hints of chocolate, fruit.
Full bodied. coyotehunter (698) - , Michigan, USA - MAR 23, 2009
On tap at the Eccentric Cafe 3/23/09. Low aroma of apples and some malt. Pours reddish brown with a good lacing head. Initial taste is that of Light banana, some peat, honey and brown sugar. What it lacks is a good scotch note. Alcohol is hardly present. Not the best representation of the style in my opinion. Finish is crisp, dry, and a little bitter with something of a sweaty funk in there.. phishpond417 (2088) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 20, 2009
ON draught at the Malt House: aweseome brew, pours a semi hazey orange colour with a two finger sized white head with beautiful aromas of fresh fruits- grapes, oranges and pear. Taste is rich, friendly and comfortable with fruity, and scotch flavas. Awesome beer! Scubatrip (610) - Annandale, Virginia, USA - JAN 7, 2009
On tap, pours a hazy orange amber color with a nice thick white foamy head. Great lacing as it leaves steps down the glass that tell you the last level before your quaff. Aroma is nothing special, beery with a hint of winter ale spices. Taste is similar, it’s got that flavor of winter ale spices without brig a winter ale. Blandly flavorful without letting water dominate, this is a decent beer that’s worth trying, but not worth hunting for. kmweaver (3208) - Petaluma, California, USA - APR 28, 2008
Draft @ Bell’s. Pours an incredibly murky, milky brown color; light tan head with medium bubbled lacing. Some light chocolate, caramel, and cola in the aroma; a bit messy, like the appearance. Average carbonation. Medium mouthfeel: cola, caramel, and some tea-like tannic notes; creamy, nutty presence in the mouth; again, scattered; a touch of alcohol poking through. Medium, warming finish: some caramel and tea and cola.
