Drawn from one of our oldest recipes, Smitten Ale began as part of a series of rye beers at our Eccentric Café. The combination of sharp citrus & resinous flavors from the hops with the earthy, rustic overtones of the rye malt contribution yield an interesting take on the American Pale Ale.

4oz pour at the Fare. Aroma is rye, sourdough, and lemon. Pours golden with a small coat of film. Taste is refreshing with lemon, rye, pepper, and a bready finish. A nice light drink and a pleasure to drink. Would definitely have this again.

I like Rye Pale Ales. I like Bell’s beers. So, yeah, this was good. Flowery hops, crisp toasty malts. I should have bought more of this...

Pours a pretty clear gold color. Light fruit, mainly citrus on the nose, with some spice. Spice and fruit on the palate. The rye adds a nice backbone to this beer.

Fresh bottle. Pours bright yellow gold with tall white head. Aroma is grassy, hay, slightly floral, some citrus. Taste is a nice resin burst against the distinctive rye malt. The malt takes over here and gives an earthy taste. Not bad at all.
