COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Drawn from one of our oldest recipes, Smitten Ale began as part of a series of rye beers at our Eccentric Cafť. The combination of sharp citrus & resinous flavors from the hops with the earthy, rustic overtones of the rye malt contribution yield an interesting take on the American Pale Ale.

Bottle. Moderate grain for the malt, herbs and lemon for the hops, light soap for the yeast. Head is average size, creamy to frothy, off-white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is sparkling clear amber. Flavor starts lightly acidic, and finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a soft to lively carbonation. This Special Grain Beer is somewhere between light and refreshing and thick and rich.

Im not a rye ale fan but it does produce a perfect head and looks the way a beer should. I mostly appreciated the head and color dumping into the sink.

Very cloudy and gold in color. Can see the floaties in this one. Produces very large head. Smells strong like rye. Good aftertaste. Easy to drink. Really liked it.

Great rye pale ale. Enough hops to cut the rye. Very well balanced. Like what the rye brings to the pale ale. Very crisp and bright.

jnkor (364) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAY 10, 2013
Light hop aroma. Poured orange with a lasting white head. Taste was quite hopped with a yeasty edge that was a little metallic/freezer burn. Palate was kind of thick with a bitter bite.

12oz bottle from ABC Wesley Chapel. Pours a hazy yellow-orange with a white head. Nose is some sweet malt, some light rye, and some light citrus. Flavor is similar with sweet malt, some mild rye, and some light citrus. Nice almost sessionable rye cream ale-ish thing.
