3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Reviewed 2/25/13. Thanks to Momar42 for the 12 oz bottle! Poured into a nonic pint glass.
A: Pours a golden orange color with a ton of yeast particles floating around. The head is a two finger white shade. Both texturing and retention are pretty damn good, and the lacing left by the receding head is quite attractive as well. Pretty face, ugly body, letís split the difference here.
S: I do notice a bit of rye to it, along side some piny, herbal hops. The hop profile seems to fit the rye malt quite well. It becomes a bit maltier as it warms up, and grows a biscuity component as well. Aromatically, it could be a little less muted.
T: One thing that lets me down right from the onset is the lack of distinctive character to it. It starts and finishes with a combination of earthy, spicy malts and piny hops. After a while, the finish will develop a grassy hop quality to it that I enjoy somewhat. This really is the type of beer more conducive to simple drinking than actual reviewing...
M: Rougher than I like, which is exasperated by the coarse yet strong carbonation and fuller body. The back end is quite clean and crisp; so maybe this would be good in the summer time?
O: Not bad - but Iím certainly not smitten with it. Itís too sharp in feel for its nondescript flavor profile.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Unexpectedly sweet, giving up a corn-laced pale malt front with a modest piney hop bitterness underneath. Grows dry towards the middle, a slight citric hoppiness underscoring an emerging spicy rye back end, yet the finish lightens up, bringing back the bright grainy sweetness against a lingering bitter fade. Not terrible, just bland and too friendly, even for a Spring beer.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dank mossy pop as you open the can and put the bright gold brew to a heavy foam. Lemony earthy herbal nose to a spicy peppery bitter bite on the front to a pithy finish. Not much in the way of tropical or sweet jammyness which is a change of pace.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 2, 2017 Paid $7 for a 4-pack of 16floz cans with a packaging date of January 2, 2017. First can consumed (Iíve had about 3-4 pints on draft within the last year or so) from a pint glass on 01.02.2017. Deep gold in color and a sticky head leaves its mark on the glass. Pleasant, although mild aroma of hops completes the introduction. Flavor profile consists of lightly burnt toast, black pepper, and earthy. The body is medium and sharp bitterness leaves it mark on the palate. An all around solid beer. Bellís appears to accomplish what they were seeking with this one. A good 2-3 pinter kind of beer.
