Aroma dominated by smoked beechwood flavors. Malt comes across as somewhat harsh and burnt. Hops aprovide a generalized bitterness.
Color is pure black; head is small to average and off-white.
Moderate sweetness and bitterness.
Body is medium; carbonation average; finish is long, bitter and smokey; al obols average.

On tap at Bailey’s, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out a good mix of roast and light smoke. Flavour is quite smoky and ashy, with lots of campfire notes. Smells like smoked pork, almost bacon, plus espresso & caraway (great breakfast.) flavors of smoked meat, borwn sugar & toffee. light on the palate. just so nice (especially in this dainty 4 oz glass.) somehow the smoked flavor & aroma are more rounded, are strong but don’t seem as sharp as smoked beer often is,

Draft - Smoke and dark roast. Jet black with a decent brown head. Tons of rich smoke and peat with some roast. Lots of smoke, not for the feint of heart.

Pour on tap, dark black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of caramel, molasses, slight smoke into a bit of earth, roasted malts, slight coffee. Tap @ Bells: Completely black with a light-tan, leathery layer of film that build up on top. Aroma of liquid smoke, mild charcoal, a hint of smoked meat, woodsy campfire notes, & hint of charred cacao beans. Big smoke flavor up front with mild ash, campfire wood, roast, & charred malt. There’s a nice little hint of malt sweetness to peek through & give balance to the beer. Notes of charcoal & sweet smoke with a faint meatiness lingering into the somewhat dry finish. Pours midnight black, fine beady head. Aroma is dark malt with smoke in the back. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is dark malt with mild to moderate ish smoke, tending to mild. Fairly dry finish. Lingering malty mild smoke. If you like smoked beers this is an excellent beer.
