Don’t let the name fool you, this doesn’t taste like a beer at all. Its more of a wine. It looks like a wine, smells like a wine, and taste like a wine. Its a sour wine, which is kind of good, if thats what you want from your beer. If you want a beer, don’t order this. If you want something you can sip on for a while, this is your beer/wine. badnewsbeers (2312) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - MAY 19, 2010
Ruddy brown. No head. Aroma of sour cherry, lemon, sour funk and chocolate. Flavor of huge tart cherry, must, sour funk, vinegar and chocolate. Thin. This is excellent coyotehunter (698) - , Michigan, USA - DEC 23, 2009
Huh. I expected pretty much this beer. And it isnt bad except that every other drink I get some seriously F**ked up flavor or off taste. Its smells mostly of a lemon soaked horse blanket and tastes very similar to the Jolly Pumpkin La Roja.....some vague notes of cherry as well. Weird, and as stated if it werent for the off taste every other drink it would be a winner. MrBunn (2848) - The Wet Side of a Dry Town, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 22, 2009
On tap at Eccentric. Pours a dark brown with red highlights, a small head and aromas of sharp tart goodness. Barnyard, lactose, sour cherries and dirt. Flavor is really interesting and very good. A lot more malt sweetness than I would have guessed. A bit of a nutty/toffee malt presence that gives way to a medley of sour cherries, malt vinegar and straight funk. Full bodied and lovely. On tap at the Eccentric Cafe, All Stouts Eve. Ruddy red-brown body, patchy off-white head. Potent lactic, sour nose. Puckeringly sour body, with lactic lemon and balsamic notes overpowering the subtle roasted malt and chocolate of the base stout. Slightly bitter finish. Wow, weird and stimulating. I did not hear many rave reviews, but I doubt there were many sourheads in attendance. Quite good.
