From notes. On tap at the Eccentric Café on June 13. The pour is a reddish gold with a minimal head and lace. The aroma is a little strange. There is a maltiness, maybe yeastiness?, that overpowers the fruitiness here. The fruitiness is on the front, but then just gets overpowered. The flavor is more sweet and fruity, but carries that strange maltiness with it. The mouth feel is thin and slick, with a really sweet malty aftertaste.

Draft sample. Poured a clear reddish color with an average off-white fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sweet berry and yeast aroma. Medium body with a tingly texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy tart berry flavor with a medium to heavy berry tart finish of moderate to long duration. Interesting beer.

Dark brownish red pour with white thin head and lots of lively bubbles rising. Aroma of sour belgian yeast, melon, lemon, tart berries. Surprisingly low carbonation, medium body, finishes pretty clean. The raspberry and sparkling ale are both evident in the flavor but it works well together too. The belgian yeasts are sour and taste bitter, making the tart of the raspberry ale more subtle. Somewhat astringent, cough drop like flavor on finish. Decent to have one every once in a while but not as good as the sum of its parts.

3.3
tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - OCT 9, 2013
UPDATED: APR 8, 2014 Tap: Ruddy. rusty copper and dingy ruby-red with a haze all throughout; not as big of a head as expected for a tripel. Aroma includes clove, mint, white pepper, light fruit skins & esters - plenty of Belgian yeast. Raspberry addition is there, lightly sweet but also a little medicinal & chalky. A little contrived. Borderline tartness on the nostrils. The taste of the raspberry is much better than the aroma, a little more pure. A touch of tartness, good sweetness. Raspberry juice, light berry jam, backed with earthy esters, clove, pepper spice, and lots of phenol alcohol flavor. A touch of chalkiness in the aftertaste. Without that chalky aromatic note, this beer could be great. As it is, it’s still pretty tasty, however.
