Moderate pour in an English pint
Poured black with mahogany highlights with a light brown frothy mostly lasting head with good lacing.
Smelt of burnt grain, sour milk, dark coffee, and dark chocolate, light fruity dark plums or blackberries,.
Taste was upfront strong bitter burnt taste and moderate sweet coffee and cream followed by a strong bittersweet dark chocolate, toffee , soy, and anise. Palate was full bodied, softly carbonated, creamy, coating and silky smooth, with moderate astringency and light alcoholic feel.
Overall, this is a great balance of sweet and bitter in a stout. The flavors are exploding all over my tastebuds like a fireworks display. It’s the softest beer on the palate I’ve yet to have, like licking a Playmate’s buttocks. Creaminess is kinda odd though and reminds me of sour milk. It all works wonderfully though. 12oz, batch 7733. Pours black, with a tan head. Aroma of malts, dark chocolate, and a roastiness. The nose is nice, but fairly faint. Flavor is overall very roasted, with a sweetness that appears after the roastiness recedes. Coffee, chocolate, and the roasted malts are the predominate flavors. 12oz, Batch 7733, packaged November 21, 2006. Pours a dark mahogany--black in my glass--with a 1/2 finger tan head. The aroma isn’t is sweet as I’d have thought from the description. Up front is dark, roasty malts and acidic coffee. There is also some unsweetened cocoa. The flavor is also pretty roasty, especially in the dry finish. Sweetness does not dominate here, though makes an appearance up front and midway through. Not as acidic as the aroma leads on. I think I picked up on a bit of apples and sour cherries, though these are quite faint. Medium to full bodied, light to moderate carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Was not disappointed, but not exactly what I was expecting, either.

Had this on tap at barcade. The aroma seems soysaucey and sweet roasty malts upfront. But when it warms there’s a deeper malt aroma, earthy, slight ester hints, with chocolatey and grahm-cracker suggestions. Definitly picked up on smooth roasty, dried fruits in the flavor upfront. Creamy chocolatey middle, and the finish is awesome. It’s the best part of this stout IMO. Great warming and smooth roasty coffee finish which is balanced and appetizing. What a great stout! I usually prefer the dry, but this sweet was awesome! Poured a thick black with small tan head. It looked as great as it tasted. Pretty black pour with a nice and frothy tan head. Aroma has coffee, alcohol and chocolate in the background. Semi-sweet chocolate first off, coffee in the middle. Bottle. Black bodied with a small tan head. Nose is roasted malts, light coffee and dark, bittersweet chocolate. Taste is bitter chocolate, oily coffee, and roasted malts with a touch of burnt cookie. Body is creamy and smooth with a dense carbonation and a medium overall feel. It just slides down easy. Finishes with more roasted malts, coffee, and dark chocolate. Nice stuff!
