Rich dark color with a gorgeous chocolaty head. Aroma is chocolaty malt, but rather subdued. Flavor is quite malty with chocolate tones, and rather sweet. Very smooth and creamy, a little too much so. Finishes with a very light bitterness that is a little lacking.

Pours thick and dark. Initial smell of cream and a hint of chocolate. A presence of coffee is the first initial taste following by sweet cream and chocolate. There is not a strong alcohol taste. A good beer to have with desserts.

Aroma has hints of chocolate. Pours black with a small tan head. No lacing at all. Taste has coffee in the front end and a bitter chocolate taste in the end. Itís not as good as some sweet stouts Iíve had....I wouldnít drink it again.

12 oz. bottle. Opaque dark brown with hints of ruby. Fully diminishing brown fizzy and creamy head. Cappucino, bittersweet chocolate, and faint alcohol aroma. Roasted coffee flavour dominates from the start, building to a deep roasty bitter finish, with light chocolate and vinous flavours joining in the fun as it warms. Medium bodied with a creamy and smooth mouthfeel.

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2005 Re-rate (down-grade) 5/18: A little more watery than creamy. Smoky and sweet, but not strong.

Yessss, a sweet stout. Swirly head with really nice retention. Very Smooth palate, just slides down. Blow on the head just right and you can make an outline of a mushroom cloud. Dee-lish. Currently playing: Stevie Wonderís Songs in the Key of Life. Life is good.

The smell of chocolate with an mild maltiness intice the sense of smell. This beer pours out dark and thick. It has a hearty black color that holds its appearance even when held up to the light. The head is thick and is not afraid to leave its remnants upon the perimeter of the glass. A good taste which combines sweet and bitter aspects well. The sweetness wins out as the mild malty cocoa taste washes down the throat.

To me, this is the definition of a malty beer. I should say multiple malt beer. And while I am not ordinarily a malt fanatic, this is the place I come for it. My best description of the flavor of this beer is this - I wonder what would happen if they made a chocolate version of it, ala Youngís. I think weíd have a dead ringer for a chocolate malt milkshake. Perhaps a little "Whopper-like", but a very interesting effort by a brewer who knows the ropes, but doesnít mind leaning over them from time to time.

poured dark brown with thin creamy dark tan head that stayed around edge of glass and made for nice lacing. smelled sweet with scents of roasted mals, coffee, and chocolate. the taste was of the same with nice sweetness. a definite earthy flavor as well. an interesting brew for sure. enjoyable.
