Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts. Available October-March.

Pitch black with a light dark brown head. Taste is superbly well balanced. Not too much roast or chocolate. Goes down surprisingly smooth for a stout with little/no aftertaste. Maybe my favorite all-round stout based purely on the ease by which one can put this one down.

Smells like a dark version of ovaltine in milk with a tiny touch of black licorice in there. Flavor is rich with light roast malts and rye or pumpernickel bread, finishing with a little coffee. The cream in the name definitely comes in the aroma and taste more so than the body of the brew, I would call this light/medium bodied but that makes a few of these so easy to take down. Nice easy going stout. Thanks Bells. 2009 12 oz.

Pitch black and incredible smooth and unctuous. I was drinking this with other stouts so any aromas or nuanced flavors were really lost for me. Disappointing but I would like to try this again on its own.

Pours a nice black with a fair cocoa head and some lace. Aroma is of chocolate, roasted malts, caramel. Nice flavor, roasted malts, chocolate, caramel. Smooth, some carbonation, sweet.

What an aroma! Deep coffee with hints of chocolate. Taste is (surprise) of coffee, but not as deep as the smell would lead you to believe. Well balanced; neither sweet nor bitter.

Pours brown almost black with a creamy head. Smells of coffee, roasted malt and chocolate. Nice beer

Jet black in color and I don't see any light getting through this brew. I see a wisp of light brown foam on the top of this beer. I smell rich dark malt, roasted barley, and black licorice. The mouthfeel is silky smooth and is a nice contrast to the bitterness from the roasted barley that fades into a light sweetness at the back of the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Scent of chocolate, coffee and carmel, but does have a mild aroma. has a smoked chocolate taste that goes down very smooth. A very nice stout. I would purchase this one again.

Excellent Stout. Not too sweet like some other stouts. Excellent Black pour, dark creamy head. Wonderful aroma and taste. Leaves a great complex and smooth taste lingering. Wonderful, somewhat cheaper choice over the pricier Imperial Stouts, delivers great complex flavors like the Imperial Stouts.

Behind that nondescript packaging that looks so unassuming on the store shelf (as if the design hadn't been completed and they slapped on some temporary labels) is one of the best cream stouts you could ever hope to have. They call it special and it is, but it is also a marvelous everyday libation. What's not to love?
