Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts. Available October-March.

Pours very dark brown with a thin tan head. Smell is creamy chocolate and some coffee as well. Taste is strong chocolate with a prominenent cream taste to it that shines through the semi-long lasting aftertaste.

I was really expecting a lot more from this rated at 97%. It was smooth but lacking in flavor. I thought this was the weakest Bells I’ve tried. How this can be rated right below Rogue chocolate stout for sweet stout I don’t know. Aroma is roasted coffee with hints of bittersweet chocolate. Mouthfeel watery and flavor leaves you wanting more. I thought this was an alright beer but not solid and definitely not top three percent in the world.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown with a slight tan head. The aroma is somewhat muted, but sweet and malty. The flavor is nice, but not terribly complex - malts, a touch of coffee, and a little bit of breadiness. Very creamy mouthfeel. Not one of my favorite Bell’s beers.

djtimeless (222) - Colorado, USA - JAN 4, 2009
Pours black with little to no brown head. Taste is chocolate malt and coffee. Roasty with a semi-sweet finish. Great balance, very good drinkable. No alcohol taste. One of the better sixpack stouts.

Fevernova (222) - Willoughby, Ohio, USA - DEC 11, 2009
12 oz Bottle -- Pours black with a moderate tan head. Good amount of smoke present. Very smooth and mellow mouth feel.

yumyum (221) - barrie, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 1, 2009
a solid brew, pours black as night with minimal head. despite lack of head the effervescence was noticeable while drinking (not in a way that disrupted the taste). The aroma was quite impressive, a sweet malty, almost wine-like aroma with abundant roastiness. The flavour, while it paled in comparison to the aroma, is still quite good. Deep roasted malts came through in the flavour along with a milky taste/texture. The mouthfeel was quite nice also. Overall a nice brew. Not quite as sweet as I had anticipated but would go for another with no doubt

Very very smooth and creamy. Chocolate aftertaste. Thin in the body. Very subtle porter like qualities in this gem of a stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours black with a small head. Chocolate, char, malt aroma. Char, chocolate, black liquorice taste. Good beet

Shakesbeere (219) - Oxford, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 16, 2008
UPDATED: APR 28, 2009 A dark brown poor; smells of malt and roasted barley. Taste has characters of coffee, chocolate, and honey with a slight fruity background - either cherry or berries. An even mixture of flavors with a creamy roasted undertone. An excellent brew; goes extremely well with chocolate desserts.
