Aroma is creamy and almost sweat with hints of molasses and coffee as well as a sour note. Appearance is very thick reddish black with zero transparency. Flavor is full and rich with strong coffee. All of it is evened out by a very smooth creamy flavor (and texture). Finish is slightly sweat and coffee with no bitterness. Overall I would buy this beer again and again. It seems to have become one of my favorite stouts (though I have only had it twice). kpresley77 (147) - Jackson, Georgia, USA - SEP 12, 2008
Bottle courtesy of colemgm8 pours black with little quick diminishing tan head. Aroma is chocolate and chocolate malt. First taste is sweet light coffee and nuts, then a great chocolate flavor takes over and finishes really nice. The mouthfeel is creamy with little carbonation which really complements this beer. madscotsman (147) - Fairview Heights, Illinois, USA - MAY 4, 2007
Poured black with a tan head. Sweet aroma. Had a great sweet malty flavor with very little carbonation. smboselli (147) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Pours black with thin chocolate brown head from a bottle. Roasty, malty aroma lead to a similar creamy flavor profile. Not as thick as expected, and the high carbonation was a little unpleasant to the palate.

If theirs one thing Bells can do right its the stout. Dark, sweet and oh so tasty, If you have access to the Bells line, pick this one up, or six or eight.

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2010 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a thin light brown head. Sparse lacing. Smells of coffee, nuts and malt. Nice medium bodied palate; but I expected more. A little short and bitter on the finish. A decent stout. IPAaLLtHEwAY (142) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 5, 2008
It definately has a good name. The flavor however is all but short lived. IT comes in the end and then its over with. jstonerock24 (142) - Englewood, Ohio, USA - SEP 19, 2014
Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is roast, chocolate, raisins, and hint of vanilla. Flavor is roasted raisins with a sweet bitter finish. Flavor is rich and it stays with you through the finish. Ubiquibeer (140) - Cleveland, USA - DEC 17, 2004
Nice dark color, subdued aroma, mostly malty. I smell a subtle sourness that concerns me, but in the taste it translates to a subtle fruitiness. Rich and creamy like a milkshake. Fruity with a bitter, dry finish. Quite quaffable. Bigassfish (140) - Naperville/Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 30, 2005
Pours dark with little tan head. Smells sweet with a sweet malty taste.
