3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours an opaque dark brown-black, with a light tan head. Sweet aroma with notes of sugar, vanilla, and caramel--almost reminscent of a cream soda or root beer. Taste is of burnt malts at first--smoky. Opens up to reveals some choclatey subtlety--but retaining a relatively roasted character. Mouthfeel is rather watery, a bit thinner than one might expect. But it doesn’t detract from the experience. In summary, another excellent stout from Bell’s--the aroma is at odds with the taste, but both are worthy.

Very well balanced. Love the flavores although it could have a bit more heavy flavor on the palate.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2017 Dense, dark poor with super creamy richness unlike any I've tried so far. My newest favorite. Cakes (500) - New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 8, 2017
On Tap at Jean Bonnett Tavern. As good as I had hoped. Bells proves it once again with another outstanding brew. Creamy, dark brown. Flavor of chocolate and coffee.. The aroma really reaches out to you. I enjoyed drinking this sitting by a fireplace in an 1763 historic tavern. bubbleflubber (2244) - Swannanoa, North Carolina, USA - NOV 26, 2017
Pours into the glass an opaque black, with a creamy head that retains a light eggshell cap. The nose is of dark and semi-sweet chocolates. Flavors run similar, of dark, semi-sweet and baker's chocolates, alongside (just) hints of dark esters. The full body and smooth, creamy mouthfeel make for a substantially rich, albeit semi-dry finish on the palate. Truly, a great pairing with desserts or chocolates. Another hit from Bell's! Tap at Blue Palms BrewHouse, Hollywood, 21st November 17. Pours black. Aroma is sweet, chocolate. Taste is sweet, rich, yes creamy, it's not my style and this is the last of a big night, but quite good. BeerRenter76 (1061) - Texas, USA - NOV 22, 2017
UPDATED: NOV 22, 2017 Nice smooth flavors of oats, roasted black coffee, milk chocolate and pecan. Palate is smooth and creamy with a light carbonation bite on the backside which mingles with the coffee aftertaste. Overall I think this is a pretty nice stout, bought this as a single but wouldn’t hesitate to buy a sixer.
