Very unique. Sour and cidery aroma. Very dark brown. Tastes of sour apple, some raisins and plums. Brad (363) - Berkley, Michigan, USA - MAR 31, 2005
Dark black pour, medium thickness, with a tan head that diminished quite rapidly. Aromas are that of chocolate, vanilla, tart cherries and other fruits. Flavor brings out the sweetness even more, the nose doesn’t prepare you for what you are about to taste. Very sweet and tart, cherries, apples, into a finish of sweet and smooth malts. Fairly light, washed right out of my mouth. MIBRomeo (2579) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 7, 2005
pours a rich black w/ a very small tan head that quickly dissapated. smelled lightly of roasted malts and a weak fruit and maybe milk. The palate was pretty thin not much to it. The flavor puckered my lips a sweet very bitter flavor almost overly harshly bitter and acidic, i’m not sure if this was the intended taste or if it was spoiled, but it wasn’t very good. Overall I wont miss this bells offering.
The thought I had has been confirmed, this beer had gone bad... too bad I would have liked a fair shot at it. steview (1088) - Petaluma, California, USA - FEB 7, 2005
UPDATED: FEB 21, 2005 english pint / aroma of chocolate milk, pours like a very syrupy cola, ooh... susie! she’s a big tart... actually, as if this is a mild cherry stout? hmm. i’m not that impressed because it’s not that sweet, rather, it’s more of a tart fruit stout, and the palate seems as thin as milk. this makes me think that this is what bells cherry stout was in its beta stage. good; let it be retired. I was totally surprised, in a good way, surprised by the sweetness. I thought it had a good balance of savory and sweet flavors.

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2007 This one surprised me. Sweet initial taste. Very, very sweet. It was so sweet it made my lips pucker up. There is a slight roasty aftertaste, perhaps w / some coffee. The sweetness, however, is over powering and unpleasant. The aroma is very weak as well, almost not even there. I was upset about this one. Usually Bell’s hits the mark, but they missed it this time. unclebleen (620) - California, USA - AUG 27, 2004
Pours a dark brown, almost black color with a small tan rimming head. Aroma is sweet...liek chocolate milk and cherries. Definetely some dark fruit in this bad boy. Flavor is almost like the cherry stout minus the intense cherry notes. Body is very good...rich and sticky. Another winner from Bell’s...geez this brewery in nothing short if amazing. atpayne (615) - Zionsville, Indiana, USA - AUG 25, 2004
Very dark with a tan head. Aroma is roasted coffee and chocolate along with vanilla. Flavor is dominated by coffee and chocolate and it has a sweet finish with a flavor like a plum pudding lingering. YourDarkLord (1800) - Urbana, Illinois, USA - JUL 13, 2004
Almost opaque black with a foamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee and vanilla. Sweet, anyway. Creamy, smooth, medium to full bodied. Lightly carbonated. Flavor was sweet with some acidity. Coffee sweetened with mild chocolate. robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - JUN 24, 2004
