On tap at DRBT. Pours black with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong port, roast, dark chocolate. Thick body, chewy roast, dark chocolate, nice sweetness, boozy finish, very nice. rumproasts (5588) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - FEB 21, 2017
Tap at Logan’s. Black with very small head. Medium tart berry, with light cocoa and dark fruit. Probably a bit less complex than the others I’ve had today, but the meld of flavors is really nice. deyholla (12034) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 30, 2016
Sampled from the tap at the Eccentric Cafe. Pours near black with a light chocolate brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a strong port note with dark grains, light roast and a hint of sweet chocolate underlying. Flavor has a nice combination of port and dark grains with light roast and a hint of chocolate supporting. dnstone (3494) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - JUN 23, 2016
Lager-like aroma. Deep brown in color with a tan head. Taste is port-like cherry, winey with roasted notes. Not really my style.

Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting VII on 09/25/2015. Dark brown color with some ruby around the edges, and a medium khaki head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak, malt and fruit. Medium to full body with flavors of wine barrel, roast malt, dark chocolate and dark fruit. The finish is roasty malt and vine fruits. Pretty good overall.

Taste is barrel, roasted malt and chocolate. Mouthfeel is thin but a good carbonation. Overall, pretty good but not great. koleminer20 (3840) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - SEP 14, 2015
From notes. On tap at Bell’s Funvitational on September 12. The pour is a dark ruby-tinted brown color with a thin khaki head and no lace. The aroma is very, very Port barrel oriented. There is lots of wine, lots of wet oak, and not a whole lot of porter character. There is a hint of malt on the back end, maybe a bit of chocolate, but for the most part, this is a wine-based porter. The flavor is a lot of green wood, almost like a stave in the beer. Again, there is a lot of wine character, with a light chocolate, and maybe some malt as an afterthought. The mouth feel is pretty decent, with a light carbonation and a lingeringly woody, winey finish. If this were less wine tasting, I’d probably like it! njager246 (697) - grand rapids, Michigan, USA - SEP 14, 2015

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2015 Draft to taster at the Eccentric Cafe. Looks solid; a slightly translucent very dark cola with light beige lacing. Smells good; loads of port and oak alongside notes of chocolate, mild bitterness, and a hint of lager yeast. A bit of smoke as well. Tastes like it smells, but more bitter, with a medium full-bodied mouthfeel. Good beer, but smells better and richer than it tastes.
