COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Per bellsbeer.com/blog , "This One Goes to 11 Ale opens with bright, juicy aromas such as tropical fruits & ripe cherries, largely derived from massive kettle & dry-hop additions of Southern Hemisphere hop varieties such as Galaxy, Motueka, and Summer. The citrus & resinous pine notes of the Pacific Northwest hop family are also well represented, making their presence known through Simcoe, Citra, and the newly released Mosaic varietal, just to name a few. A wide range of specialty malts anchor the hops to this IMPERIAL RED ALE, contrasting the assertive bitterness & juicy aromatics with a robust, toasty depth of flavor. Fermented with Bell’s signature house ale yeast, This One Goes to 11 Ale finishes with a lingering warmth."

Slightly hazy amber with a citrus aroma. Sweet taste with loads of sticky tropical fruit. Thanks to whoever traded this to me. This beer is good but is a touch on the sweet side. Good enough to try once. Meh.

Bottle. Pours reddish amber with an off white head. Some lacing. Nose and taste is almost entirely resin, liquified pine and tree sap. Some caramel malt. Too perfumy and piny for me. A big beer that’s a little too big. Maybe this one should only go to 8. Medium body.

12oz bottle 11/29/12 (Binny’s Downers Grove)-42° in tulip. Pours a dark amber with a small off white head. Aroma of hops, pine, citrus. Taste of the same with more hops and malt. This full bodied brew does drink like a double IPA. Nice job.

Red pour, off white head. Aroma? All resinous christmas trees and some sweet sticky caramel malts. Big bold and overpowering resin with some malts that get lost in the liquid pine trees.

On tap at the Union Woodshop, crystal clear coppery red with minimal head. Bouquet is hoppy with sweet caramely notes dominating. Drinks like a DIPA with a sweet malt backbone, alcohol certainly present. I would call it slightly "hot" with it’s boozy presence most obvious on the back end. The composition for this beer feels a bit muddled, no negativity implied, fun and different + bitchin spinal tap reference of course. The finish is really were it’s at super complex and lingeringness. Tubular broken bells way awesome rad

Deep amber pour with a tan head. Aroma is fruity hops with a toasty malt back. Tate is a dominate hop flavor. piny and a toasted malt in the background. Aftertaste is hops. It is a hoptastic beer.

Bottle from mari’s. Pours clear reddish copper with a small white head that quickly dissipates. This guy smells hoppy to the max with tons of citrus and some malt. The taste is medium bitter with a nice citrus kick at the finish. For the alcohol, this is very drinkable.

Draft at Jerry’s. Orange-amber with big, creamy, beige head / Rich nose of caramel, cut pine, weed, and citrus / Medium to full body, lush and creamy, sweet, big malts make this only moderately biting with beautiful balance, and lightly bitter finish / Flavors of caramel, cut pine, orange, grapefruit / Just great, with a superb body.

First beer of the afternoon over at Matt’s .. . pours a deep amber .. . mild head, lacing is radical .. . deep sap, red wood, and odd caramel .. . large mouth but with a fast finish .. . a nice beer but nothing all that exciting .. . . It’s basically like you’re shooting a free throw, and then you miss, and someone punches you right in the nose.
