COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Per bellsbeer.com/blog , "This One Goes to 11 Ale opens with bright, juicy aromas such as tropical fruits & ripe cherries, largely derived from massive kettle & dry-hop additions of Southern Hemisphere hop varieties such as Galaxy, Motueka, and Summer. The citrus & resinous pine notes of the Pacific Northwest hop family are also well represented, making their presence known through Simcoe, Citra, and the newly released Mosaic varietal, just to name a few. A wide range of specialty malts anchor the hops to this IMPERIAL RED ALE, contrasting the assertive bitterness & juicy aromatics with a robust, toasty depth of flavor. Fermented with Bell’s signature house ale yeast, This One Goes to 11 Ale finishes with a lingering warmth."

12 oz. bottle in a trade with Queenholly. Thanks! Enjoyed at cellar temperature. Amber color with very thin head. No retention. Nose was mostly caramel malt and a pine like hops. Taste is mostly caramel and biscuit notes from the malt. The rest of the flavor is very resinous hops with some like notes of toffee. 11% ABV is kept in check, not real noticeable at all. Mouthfeel is real balanced between sweet and hoppy. A nice beer but not one I’m going to run and find again.

Pours dark amber with an off-white, frothy head. Nose of an IPA; citrus. Full bodied, with aroma of citrus, hints of fruit, some alcohol. Decent, but didn’t expect it to taste like an IPA.

Bottle:   Deep amber, moderate frothy sandy head, fairly nice lacing.   Strong sweetened pithy citrus like aroma.   Subtle alcohol.   A little rough on the tongue, strong citrus and pith, a little green, some warming.   Decent malt base, somewhat sweet, hoppy but not too biting.   Certainly feels like 11%, but its not too hot or alcoholic.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes with a candied citrus peel, pith, and soft alcohol.   Seems a decent beer, warming, some flavors, not too brash, yet still seems a little young in some aspects.   Certainly gets your buzz on!

Hazy deep amber-copper with a quickly dissipating white crown. Aroma of citrus, caramel, alcohol and malt. Taste is big, sweet and boozy with caramel, toffee, citrus with a semi-prickly and bitter finish.

Pours a reddish brown with a thick white head. Aroma of heavy caramel malt, tropical fruit, pineapple and grapefruit. Taste is malty, bitter grapefruit and alcohol. This one does not hide alcohol very well. Very big beer, glad to have tried it but won't be seeking out again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared @ WOB Dadeland. Pours clear dark amber color with off white head. Aromas of pine, grapefruit and oranges with caramel, toffee and toasted malts. Similar flavors with lots of citrus and sweetness. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel.

Thanks to my buddy Mike for sending this one over.

A - Pours a dark reddish oak color. 2 finger off white head

S - Nose is like a barleywine and an IPA crawled inside of the glass. Loads of brown sugar sweetness, hints of citra, grapefruit and pineapple.

T - Very sweet with tropical fruits and mango up front. Middle is a malt bomb with burnt sugar, graham cracker and floral notes. Finish is pine needle.

M - Very heavy body. Lots of booziness in this one. Slight chest burner on the finish

O - Sort of undwhelming in the piney / malty category but the GAlaxy and Citra hops really shine through!

Pours clean auburn w/ foamy beige head. Tons of lacing that lasts. Aroma is big blast of resiny dank hops w/ some papaya in there. Rich and buttery malt profile, really interesting and refreshing relative to the typical sticky caramel messes of many DIPA’s. Diverse hop profile of equal parts resin, dank, and pine. Nice residual bitterness without being too oppressive. Really enjoyed this one.

Pours cloudy brown with a medium light tan head. Aroma is light chocolatey malts and caramel. Taste is sweet but mellow pine hops. There are definitely malts in the background with a chocolate/carob flavor. This beer gets more of a malt character as it warms and has an oily mouthfeel. Not bad, just a little subdued.
