This beer is absolutely fabulous. The flavors attack your tongue as in a tidal wave. Hops, roasted malt and grain flavor all hit you at once with rippling backcurrents of wonderful malt complexity. The finish is incredibly tight, everything coming back together at the end leaving your mouth hanging in anticipation for the next sip. An absolutely amazing bottled stout. legion242 (2348) - Richardson, Texas, USA - MAY 1, 2003
Thinish black-orange at the edge. Pretty darn thin head. Aroma was pungent brownie- not chocolate, but cocoa. Very "baked", slight cinnamon. Great deoth to start. All those aroma qualities coming through on the tongue. I can't stress the wonderful depth enough. Good chocolate loveliness. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - NOV 18, 2007
Bottle courtesy of Puddintane. Pours dark brown with a thin white head. Smells of rich chocolate, coffee, lots of roast, dark fruit, touches of oak and milky. Tastes of coffee, some spice, figs, caramel, a hint of cherries. Mouthfeel is thick and the finish on this one yields some great roasty malt. I can’t get over how rich the malt profile is on this one. Bells never ceases to amaze me. Zach Diesel (906) - Sisters, Oregon, USA - MAR 28, 2001
It boggles the mind! Robust flavor so complex I still am amazed. Worth the wait for sure. tourette (225) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 24, 2001
Great stout. A bit of chocolate and coffee flavors. I like it.

Another excellent stout offering from Bell’s. Pours out to a jet black color in the glass with virtually no head. Taste is that of roasted malt, with slight coffee overtones. A wonderful smooth, yet lightly hop-laden finish. P-tor44 (886) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - MAR 28, 2001
coffee ice cream, really good. complex aroma, chocolate coffee taste. excellent Drew Blood (151) - Mt.Prospect, Illinois, USA - NOV 26, 2001
As I have said, I am not a stout nut, but this is Bell’s and they are turning me. A bit more bitter and more complex than Susie’s. I liked it not as much as Susie’s but still a great beer.
